Just wondering, who do you guys think are the biggest trolls on the site?


I'd hate to make the mistake of taking one of them seriously

Your definition of troll is too narrow. There are different variety of trolls- intelligent as well as stupid ones. Some flame, some bait other to react, some like to cause chaos, some are in nuisance in general, then some are desperate attention seeker.

Some of them think they are actually contributing to the community- trolling for a good cause but the end result is always the same- they do disturb the normal flow of forums and if you let them run around freely, trash they leave behind is just too much to deal with.

Ah yes... Baiters. Such a fun thing to do :3 if only the days of fixed width windows were still around. I had so much fun on Medieval total war and Age of empires impersonating others and the idiots actually falling for it. Good times good times.

There are a large variety of trolls but people have been labeling anything that annoys them a troll anymore. However a desperate attention seeker is not a troll as they have not done anything worthy of the troll national anthem. However one thing that mods never notice until their forums die is that trolls actually keep forums alive. Without a good number of them most topics would never get replies and it stops the flow of new people =P I learned that the hard way on a few previous forums.

I beg to differ on both accounts.

1: Not all flamers are trolls but many trolls flame and many flamers troll as well.

2: Trolls do look for attention as well- for good or for bad. If nobody notices them, they fail- hence the motto " Do not feed the trolls" (though some of them can turn more violent when put on diet ( ignored).)

Au contraire my dear ignorant cat-raped-by-elephant member, if that would be the case then everyone who succeeds in making people flame would be considered a troll, so then pretty much the entire staff consists out of trolls as let that be now one of our specialties

There are times when it's best to be silent, as saying something while not even being able to apprehend what you just said isn't going to take people you very seriously.

Everyone who intentionally just comes to the forums to screw it, is in my eyes a troll. Whether that be by acting stupid and irrational, intentionally making threads that are forbidden, intentionally breaking all the rules, acting intentionally like a hardcore fanboy to annoy people or to insult people in every post for no reason at all. That makes them flamers, but also trolls. All of those are here considered trolls, if you have another, subjective definition of what a troll is, that's your business. However if you're going to turn that very subjective vision of yours into some kind universal meaning, then likewise you just utterly raped the hypothetical lil'-kitten-by-a-humongous-elephant-bull as apparently a troll can't be a flamer, which is just an artificial distinction you just made yourself based on nothing else than your own subjective opinion.

What you describe as 'troll' only applies to an extremely small group of people who actually have a certain amount of intelligence and as a result can by very creative when messing with people so that they don't have to resort to just flaming them like Gamahiro or Flaw. But 95% of the other trolls are just retarded or don't bother being very subtle, still they are trolls. My definition is much more on the mark than yours.
