Standing in a open plain grassy field. With some sakura tree's around that surrounds us. A great sunny day with a slight breeze to keep me cool. Standing in the middle of the field with my Katana to my side waiting for my sempai as the wind takes the sakura pedals and swirl it around everywhere making it an epic scenery. Now the ultimate waiting game begins. ~_~

*I do not teach Kenjutsu with techniques, merely un-augmented Kenjutsu; the basics and fundamentals for understanding how to properly wield a blade. Credits go to Keotsu for the exceptional teaching method.*

The breeze blows gently, brushing through our hair and slightly ruffling our clothes; Another student had presented himself to Ruiz-San. He did not know much about this one, but his expectations were high-as they always were.

"Now, I'd like you to begin by telling me what you know about Kenjutsu, and what it is to you."

Kenjutsu: All I really know about Kenjutsu is that there are two types. Free form and the ones that you use techniques with. Kenjutsu is a form of fighting like ninjutsu however with the use of a blade. Not entirely sure if it's strictly with just a katana or something with a lance or a spear is also falls into the category. In the land of the iron all samurai's practice Kenjutsu as well as the shinobi. Seven swordsman of the mist are also the one's that are well known within the shinobi world. That is all I really know ~_~

"Hm, not bad. Everyone tends to have their own definition as to what Kenjutsu really is, however a universal truth remains; Kenjutsu is the art of the sword. Do not think of the blade as merely a weapon, but an extension of your soul. Many people believe in one of the following:

That if you do not respect the sword, you are not fit to wield one.
That if you do not fear the sword, you are not fit to wield one.

Kenjutsu refers to the technique of the sword, and therefore things such as a lance would not fit into the same category. Such things would fall under the category of weapon play. Overall your description was not bad."

"Now, before we begin I'd like to know if you have any prior experience in Kenjutsu, and what type of sword do you prefer? Katana, Longsword, Nodochi, etc? It doesn't necessarily matter as this training is pretty universal, but different swords will have a different impact on the way you fight."

(If you've had no experience, you don't have to answer if you haven't had any prior experience).

My preference is the Katana. As it's sleek and quick, light but very durable. However, I do not have any experience in fighting with a Katana. I just swing wildly hoping that I connect with a blow. This is the area I must improve on. Knowing what to do in situations and be effective.

Lol, alright.

Now to begin training, could you begin describing to me the difference between a One-Handed and a Two-Handed Slash?

Besides the obvious of course.

Is the obvious meaning one handed slash uses one hand and two uses two hands?

Thats too obvious but I do not know much about the art of using sword but i'll do my best U_U

One Handed Slash
-Versatile, Quick, and swift. Able to slash at any direction swiftly. Changing direction of the slash during mid slash seems possible. Specialy to block or counter.

Two Handed Slash
-Powerful and brute. More accurate as to once swung you know where your going to go with it. Down fall is not quick and changing direction seem to be a bit difficult. Recovery time per swing would be limited a bit. Also would have to make sure you would atleast make the person block it or hit them with it. Missing would be bad as it would be hard to block a quick counter

Hmm, not completely off.

One Handed Slashes are not as fast as Two Handed, as well as being less powerful. However they allow for easy maneuverability and they are easy to follow up and chain attacks after. Two Handed Slashes are more powerful, and faster due to having more force behind them, but offer less maneuverability and are harder to follow up.

*Hands you a Bokken*

Now that we've distinguished the difference between those two, I'd like for you to perform a One Handed Horizontal Slash on the training dummy here.

Horizontal going like this (____)

*Recieves the wooden sword ~_~*

As I take a few practice swings, I slash it to the right and slash it to the left. Then I make a nice samurai stance and trust foward to check the balance of the bokken. Then notice it's just a wooden toy. Either way, as JM Senpai as told me to do, I raise my right hand diagnoly across my chest. Bokken facing outwards to my left. Then without hesitation I strike to the right slashing it horizontally as like doing a back slap.....

Hrmmm how about that senapai?

Never underestimate the Bokuto U_U

If you watch Gintama, or even ask Gin-San, he will give you an entire explanation on how to utterly pawn with one.

Good.

Now, perform a One Handed Vertical Slash.

*Does fancy sword movements and spin it around my hand. Then I throw it up in the air and lose control and hit jacob senpai on the head -_- *

Watch out!!!

*picks up the bokuto, sorry senpai.....*

Once I pick up the bokuto i wave it around once more to get a better feel for it. Trying to gage the weight distribution on it, so that I can swing in freely and get the most out of it. Then I raise my right hand high in the air, elbows extended and arm straight. Then with a swift motion i forcefully lower my arm downwards vertical to the ground.

:D

Lmao

So please tell me what is is, because I am unaware o-o
*Troll Face*

(But seriously tell me o-o)
okay

I think it's a single strike that impales an opponent with a thrust motion and the tip of the sword penetrates first and goes through the opponent.

:D

Starts to lift the wooden sword and point it outwards towards the dummy, keeping within striking distance. Then I shift my momentum backwards slighting and forcefully thrust foward keeing the sword stern in front aimed at the torso at the dummy thus resulting in striking the dummy in the torso from the momentum of my thrust.

It is. It is generally pretty fast, and hard to predict. Although if it is successfully blocked, it leaves you wide open and vulnerable to an incoming attack. Stabs are not very powerful, but they can prove fatal depending on the point of impact.

And good o-o

Now, since earlier we distinguished the difference between one handed and two handed slashes, can you demonstrate for me a Two-Handed Horizontal Slash?

YESH!!

First I start to back a bit from earlier when I performed the stab. I make sure I am in striking distance of the dummy once again and I hold the wooden sword with both of my hands. left hand above my right keeping the sword straight foward at an angle that points towards the dummys head, evenly spaced apart from my body, arms straight and stern. Then I raise the sword above my head with my elbows bent backwards and now the sword is pointing towards the ground from above my head. Then at the same time with swift and easy motion, I step foward with my left foot. While at the same time just as my left foot hits the ground, I move my arms by un-bending my elbows and moving it foward and downwards motion. Striking the dummy from head to torso in one swift motion with some power behind it from taking a step and using the hips for base of my power.

How about that???

First I hold the wooden sword with both of my hands. My right slightly higher than my left. Gripping it nice and firm. Then I make sure that the dummy is within striking distance. Once done that I tilt the wooden sword to my right, while at the same time I lean foward with my left foot. Opening up my stance and all at the sametime as my left foot hits the ground I swing violently with accuracy slashing vertically on the dummy. Then I step through with my right foot so I do not lose balance.
