that had nt to do with his taijustu ablility
Last time I checked he looked like he had trouble walking when he reached Shizune and Naruto. That drug weakened him, so it affected everything, Taijutsu included.

I think people just overrate characters in general. I even saw a kakashi vs tsunade thread... If someone makes those types of thread, and I think some actually put that Tsunade would win.

How? when he intervend when Itachi was torturing saske. ITachi even said him and kisame could not beat jiraiya together. I think the sharingan is overrated. If the genjutsu was so flawless then how did hashirama fight madara and win?
If you honestly believe Itachi and Kisame together cannot beat Jiraya. Walk out this thread now.

Itachi is noted to have the best genjutsu in the series. We don't know how Madara vs Hashirama went. They are on a whole other level entirely. So why even compare that to this?

Jiraiya is stupidly overrated yet he doest have any impressive feats.
May i also say that those two links you uploaded are FALSE hype. If you read what deva path i believe said, he said 'praise'. He was paying homage to his former sensei and nothing more.

Secondly ill make a thread about what kisame said in detail. What kisame said wasnt massively directed towards him. The reason he talked about jiraiya is because he was the sannin in question. He was hailing the sannins in general, jiraiya was the sannin in question and gave him praise. No different to when he heard about oro's death, he said the person who killed him mustve been something else.

From what ive gathered kisame acknowledges people who have gained fame or have done something impressive in the ninja world. Similarly he is a very proud man and likes to be acknowledged himself. For example he was happy that kurenai knew who he was, and he repeated this again when kakashi acknowledged who he was. Similarly due to kakashi being known as the copy ninja, kisame respected him.

If you notice, when gai came into the picture, kisame asked who he was because gai isnt 'famous' in the nnja world and when gai responded by saying he is the blue beast of konoha (or something like that) kisame mocked him. Kisame being very proud hated the fact that gai everytime they meet didnt remember who he was and even said that gai has a way for rubbing people the wrong way.

Jiraiya isn't overhyped, what Pain said was true, he'd most likely have lost were he facing Jiraiya with knowledge(he lost to another sage who had knowledge) and we all saw how easily Kisame was defeated and needed Itachi's help for escape. And you forgot Minato's 'there's no ninja as great as you' hype.

Yes false hype is what I was going for but people tend to use it as manga facts to back them up in arguements. :izuna:

This is exactly what I've been trying to tell everyone and you worded it alot better than me. Thank you.

Jiraya would have still lost with all the knowledge in the world
Don't even trying to compare Narutos plot no jutsu ass pull win.

as it stated that the only affect was his inability to mold chakra accurately, so that remains irrelevant. Of course in order to display a drug affect alil stumble it needed.

btw Tsunade could very well defeat Kakashi, actually quite easily in some situations.

Majority of people here cannot distinguish between facts and opinions. Similarly between hype, false hype and characters exaggeration

Being one of the three Legendary Sannin, Jiraiya was an exceptionally powerful ninja, easily considered Kage-level and was initially chosen for the position of Fifth Hokage by the Konoha Council, though he turned it down. He stated that he had only been brought to the verge of death twice in his entire life, once when he was doing "research" on Tsunade herself, (and being beaten to a pulp by her for doing so), and when he used the toad key to weaken the Nine-Tails' seal on Naruto's stomach and resulting in Naruto's four-tailed form. This only happening because he was trying to reseal the demon chakra rather than harm Naruto.
His strength was so great that even powerful members of Akatsuki either were easily subdued like Konan while others like Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki, a master of the Sharingan and former member of the Seven Mist Swordsmen respectively, opted not to face him in battle, fearing that the very best they could do together against Jiraiya would end in a stalemate. Kisame even noted that he was no match for Jiraiya saying he was "on a whole other level." Itachi stated that even if they had reinforcements, the result would be no different. Minato Namikaze also acknowledged his master's power, skills, and mindset. Even Nagato, a former student of his, was nearly defeated despite outnumbering Jiraiya, causing the younger opponent to marvel Jiraiya's abilities, noting that he could not have beaten Jiraiya had he had prior knowledge of Pain's secret.

also jiraiya was never struggling when fighting the animal path because as i recall he was fighting with his hands clasp and still forming shadow clones fire styles and barrier techniques.Which other ninja have you ever seen forming jutsus without hand signs.not even the "mighty" itachi.you are the one underestimating jiraiya.

What have you been smoking? Jiraiya is one of the most underrated characters, period. You can’t pick and choose which statements you like to consider canon.

Pain openly admitted that Jiraiya would have won had he not kept his secrets (or if jiraiya himself found out a little sooner). He took out 4 paths against, at that time, the strongest character on the show and he could have escaped and fight another day but no, he chose to die so he could get enough information to protect Konoha from Akatsuki.

Kisame admitted inferiority . Kisame had no other hidden motives, when he stated that, he was simply no match for Jiraiya. There’s nothing to discuss here because you can’t receive a clearer picture and if you do doubt such a statement you must every single phrase throughout the series, which not only makes it impossible to argue with you, but it’s also weird to read a manga you can’t trust.

Jiraiya was simply a beast and a true shinobi.

Lol. Well, Joseph Goebbels said that if you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth in peoples minds. Maybe hes rooting for it. xd

As long as Jiraiya was Kage-level shinobi, putting him on par with Pain or Itachi is overrating.

If you knew how that technique works you'd know that in a fight especially aganst any decent opponent he wouldnt get such a chance. At least you should've read how a technique works before you sprout such bs :sy:
