umm i am sorry for puting a piontless fight up how is it piontless idk but i rekon minato vs itachi is more piontless just cause minato is sealed away for ever and people stil argue bout that so why not this??

Without edo or MS abilities, its very difficult for Itachi to beat Gaara because Gaara is very strong now.

gaara can win without the threat of a instant killer genjutsu it makes it soo much more easier to win for gaara he stopped a enraged raikage in his ration shield powered liger bomb drop who had the intent to kill sasuke with his sand he saved the sand village from deidoras bomb with his sand and gaara has been shown to block amaterasu itachi is smart smarter than gaara but gaara isn't stupid he can just hover in the air in his sand dome sheild use his third eye to view the battlefield / itachi and attack whilst defending at the same time if it soo happens itachi gets up close gaara has his automatic shield and at worst his Armour of sand

I also think that Minato vs Itachi threads are pointless. I said this vs is pointless because they will never fight, so we will never know. Threads like these are all opinionated i.e. in my opinion Itachi would win. In your someone else's opinion Gaara would win. But because they will never fight, there can't be a real debate and the outcome of this versus will always be a tie regardless of what each side says (Gaara wins, or Itachi wins).

Wouldn't it be a more productive use of time to speak about how a previous battle would have turned out if it had not been for plot no jutsu as some put it? Or to predict how a future impending battle will result?

P.S. in my opinion I think that this vs is pointless and ^here I explained why, however I didn't insult you dude, so calm down. As I said before I think Itachi would win <- my opinion. But since they'll never fight, no-one knows except Kishi of course lol

Gaara would win considering Itachi is a god at genjutsu but his genjutsu is restricted. He would still have Mangekyo and Susanoo but Gaara can just bury him, if the location allows him so.
