Hashirama can change the battlefield, no, the entire landscape to his advantage, in seconds. He can hide in the woods, attack with Moku Bunshin, create flowers to make him fall asleep, (secretly) use Genjutsu on him or directly crush him with trees.. there are so many ways for Hashirama to dominate Jiraiya.

he can set the mokuton on fire. jiraiyas katon is some of the best and strongest in the manga since its powered by oil.
