If he was programmed to defend himself the best way possible then why didnt he use shinra tensei the second preta path 'supposedly' failed to work instead of lying on the ground for a couple of minutes before he decided to do anything.

I am not 'fanboying' in the slightest, all I stated was that the example you posted wasnt relevant as Nagato wanted to be defeated/hit by amaterasu at that point.

and it is my opinion that it seems illogical that preta cannot absorb amaterasu. I could understand if it cant absorb jutsu like mokuton etc but an elemental chakra based attack like that should be absorbed without a problem

kabuto can use any technique that the user can use when they were alive if kabutos s intelligence is higher than the user than he can probabily use than better than they even were in real life however kabuto hasn t got experience over the body but he still is good at controlling them with his currect intelligence
