Shikamaru is one of the most intelligent ninja characters in Naruto and he took on many ninjas who are more powerful than him. The biggest upset was Akatsuki’s Hidan, but one on one confrontation, who else could Shikamaru defeat from the member of Akatsuki?

He has to figure out their abilities beforehand and tbh konohamaru could outsmart Hidan if he knew the mechanics behind his ritual. Shikamaru would die if he fought any others 1 on 1
