To start this thread off I just want to say that Kishi and his foreshadowing is VERY obvious and should never be over-looked. Through minor themes and details he sets up the anime and every progression in the series had an obvious beginning. (Two recent examples were when "Madara/Tobi" stood in front of the empty edo-coffin hinting to the fact that Madara was in it and Kabuto's constant regarding nature and then his use of sage mode in recent chapters.)
Basically what I'm trying to say is Kishi uses details to set up future events. Guy has always been one of my characters and I noticed something a while ago that I just decided to post regarding his gate techniques so here are the 6th and 7th gate techniques:
6th gate - Morning Peacock (Fire based taijutsu)
7th gate - Daytime Tiger (Air based shock wave jutsu)
I'm not sure if people picked up on the technique names but it seems like the gate names hint to Guy's using of the 8th gate. When jutsu are named in a way like these, they follow a pattern. The 6th gate was morning, the 7th daytime, and the 8th will be night - his ultimate technique and the end of his "youth," and, more than likely, his life.
While I'm not sure if it will out right kill him the naming of these justu definitely leads me to believe Guy will use his 8th gate, the fact he mentioned it within a recent chapter also further reinforces my thoughts. It just seems like Kishi is trying to prepare us for Guy's final technique and his possible death.
To finish this thread I think I'll talk a bit about what I feel the finaly jutsu will be.
At the moment, I'm going with, "Nighttime Dragon," and I'm going to assume it's going to be somehow related to lighting jutsu. My reasons for this are pretty simple, the nighttime is a given, the lightning style would follow the current line of the elements of these jutsu (fire to air to lightning is the order the jutsu would "beat each other" in) and the reasons for the Dragon is a bit more complex.
With credit to "OhReary" it would make sense because it follows the zodiac and the description of the zodiac's dragon perfectly follows Guy as it's, "...vigorous, strong, self-assured, proud, direct, dignified, eccentric, intellectual, fiery, and passionate." The most important thing about the dragon is its description as noble and, in the average view, a dragon is a beast and most likely green, similar to Guy's title of, "Konoha's noble green beast."
Thoughts / opinions?
