Kabuto was not that much of an amazing character is the original series and in the begging os shippuden. Kabuto definitely became extremely powerful. Read this and i have listen reasons on why he should be considered one of the most powerful.
1.)
2.)
3.)
4. )
5.)
I hope after reading this that you guys at least think about how powerful he is because i never see him mentioned as one of the most powerful in naruto. Let me know if you disagree/agree and a REASON for it. Thanks for reading, have a great day
1.)
Orochimru's DNA injection:
Orochimaru was a legendary ninja, a genius, and a powerhouse.
He had a plethora of snake based techniques and venture out to master every jutsu and whenever you thought you killed him, he just had a bunch of snakes or whatnot come out of his body and regenerate him or something like that. The only way they every actually took him out was when itachi sealed him. Kabuto gained all of his snake techniques and probably gained some considerable power.

Sage mode:
We all witnessed how powerful Naruto became with just 5 minutes of sage mode. He contantly takes in nature energy powering him up, and that snake is like how the frogs merge with jaraiya to take it in (presumably.)

3.)
Hydrification Technique:
With the ability to turn himself or any part of his body into liquid helps him a lot defensively making him really hard to kill. I mean, look at suigetsu and he 2nd mizukage and their abilities.

Medical Ninjutsu:
Kabuto already showed his expertise in his medical ninjutsu and his healing abilities and his offensive abilities with them. Not to mention how he learned the healing abilities of the uzumaki.

5.)
Mind power:
Knowledge is Power! He has shown to be a genius with a vast amount of knowledge. Working for orochimaru for so long, i bet he learned a lot and also learned a bunch of misc. jutsu. Kabuto has also shown surgical skills. He also has shown skills in deception being a pro spy and lying his whole life. He also is a good planner being able to get to tobi with the 6th coffin. He also, single handily, created a more powerful, and more perfected form of the edo tensei(this should be a key strength also, possesing madara Uchiha at the moment)
