Concerning Hashirama, Im more inclined to believe Edo Madara, who has actually fought the man (with Kurama helping ofcourse) and was defeated. Edo Madara's pride in his own greatness stops him from lying. If he's said to be Hashirama's equal (when they fought, he lost), then he believes he has the same level of power as the Shodaime Hokage.
