The Lightning Blade is an enhanced form of the Chidori with the same effects and drawbacks, but more power. Kakashi learned how to perform this ninjutsu before Kakashi Gaiden but was not able to sustain it long enough to connect. He finally made it work after a lightning bolt struck him and gave him enough power to use it and take revenge for Obito Uchiha's death. It is also said that Kakashi cut a lightning bolt in half with this technique. The first time he used it and the legend of him splitting said lightning bolt are speculated to be the origin of its name. The Chidori appears as simply a mass of white electrical chakra in the user's hand, the Raikiri is more focused and blue. Like the Chidori, Kakashi can use the technique four times a day, which is an incredible feat, considering the intensity and chakra requirements

neither is stronger. they intensity of both jutsu can be fluctuated at will by the user. (so go kiss your mother and go to bed(sasuke hater)). Plus he didn't invent it, the technique has been passed down in the land of lighting like turkey at thanksgiven.

When did Kakashi go to the land of lightning and who did he learn Chidori from there? You sound stupid.The only person who has been shown to used a similar technique to chidori is the The Third Raikage.So if only one person has been shown using it, how has it been passed down idiot? Furthermore, Hell Stab was invented before Kakashi's Chidori but it's not like Kakashi copy the jutsu from the Third Raikage.Kakashi was like six years old when he invented chidori and was in the mist of a war with the hidden stone.I doubt he had a chance to meet the Third Raikage and compare CliffsNotes on jutsus.And lastly, Raikiri is a stronger version of Chidori plan and simple.Now go to the trunk stop and kiss your mother before she began work.You're definitely not going to want to after she gets started.

They're both based on the same principle. The only difference is that the Raikiri is a stronger version. Other than that there is no difference.

It's like comparing the Oodama Rasengan to the Rasengan.
They are technically the same technique because they work on the same principles and mechanics, but by definition, they are different because the Oodama Rasengan is stronger.




Another subliminal thing about the Raikiri and Chidori is that by now they've personified themselves as Kakashi and Sasuke's technique, respectively.

Chidori is a weaker form of Raikiri. Kakashi developed Chidori at a young age and worked on it until it became strong enough to cut through a bolt of lightning. Raikiri is also more taxing when it comes to Chakra than the Chidori. Chidori is an A-Rank lightning element technique whereas the Raikiri is an S-Rank lightning technique, and is more powerful and more draining than the Chidori. Kakashi can use shadow clones in combination with Raikiri to make Lightning Chain. If you pay close attention to the differences, Raikiri appears as more of a blade than it does a ball of lightning, the sound and colour also more concentrated. The Chidori appears as a simple mass of lightning in one's hand that is used like the Rasengan.
As shown in the Anime, Sasuke CAN create Chidori blade, whilst that may appear to be powerful, the Raikiri is still more powerful.
