Many moons again I was sat enjoying an Anime series that i just cant remember the name of and its been bugging me for days!

It's a large scale battle which people compete to become the victor of a large trophy IIRC, The main character is a teen male but the contestants of the competion have these companions spawn for them they look human however are not, In the end the young boy wins and also falls in love with his companion then she vanishes into thin air wala all over.
