Which should be taken as more credible?

One of the best examples of this is Hashirama vs Hiruzen; who is the strongest hokage of all time?

Hiruzen was repeatedly said to be as such in the early databooks, in the manga, was called the strongest of all the kages by Kabuto(which would have included people like A, Onoki, etc) even at the age of 69 and was shown arguably the most impressive amount of respect that anyone has ever been shown in this series when Orochimaru attempted to summon 3 Hokages to fight him. We know now that the 2 hokages that were successfully summoned weren't exactly at 100%, but still, a very outstanding amount of respect shown to him none the less.

Now we have Hashirama, who was compared to the Sage of the Six Paths himself, is said to have medical ninjutsu that rivals that, if not surpasses Tsunade, and greatly feared by Madara Uchiha, one of the strongest ninja ever. This all in the span of what, 5 maybe 6 chapters.

So who truly is the strongest hokage? Do we stick with Hiruzen? Or has the hype Hashirama has received surpass that of Hiruzen? Hell, you even include Minato's hype as well. That'll shake things up even further.

That's just one of the very many examples of conflicting hype/statements. Do you go off of the most recent or do you make the argument that the part 1 hype should count just as much?

Did Kishimoto know, at that time in part 1, how strong he was going to make Hashirama? Or did he make a lot of this up on the go? The amount of confliction seems to show that he made a lot of it up on the go.

Kishi probably knew how Naruto would turn out from the beginning to the end, but normally with writers a lot is made up in the middle, new ideas and so on.

I'm not sure if he planned for he's characters to be so strong close to the end, but since the beginning they were thought out to be pretty strong, remember he said the Kyuubi could level a mountain with just a swing of his tail?

Part one hype should count, I do feel that they weren't so explicitly shown like in part 2 though, eg building being destroyed rather easily, ground quaking, characters being thrown through rocks and still getting up with just a light brush etc.

We really haven't seen anything of what Hashirama has done to actually make a statement like... yeah he was weaker that then 3rd, but he was spoken very highly of so it's safe to assume he was the strongest Hokage yet.

This exact same thread word for word was made by someone on narutoforums. I don't know if you're that person, but if not you shouldn't be trying to jack other peoples threads regardless of what site it's on. If you are that person then I apologize for the accusation.

Anyway my answer is part 2 hype.
