Can there be a sage of anything?

For example:

Sage of Six Paths

Toad Sage

Snake Sage

So can a Sage just be a person who fully masters a certain style or something?

Like Naruto mastered jutsus with Toads? xD

Kabuto did the same but with snakes?

Rikudou Sennin did the same but with the Six Paths?

Cuz im pretty sure wind/fire/water/earth/lightning sage would be kinda weird

snake and toad and dragon are very important creature to japanese mythos.

So i can see why kishi choose to snake a sage mode.

Looks like kishi is giving each of the sannin a powerful plot wise regarding there summons to make us all realise why him and their summons are known by all in the shinobi world.

I just hope, kishi doesnt go bejond snake, toad and slug.
