Well Nagato Did use an Alter ego to Fight, Even Pain was Unknown to all outside of the akatsuki, I Doubt if Hardly anyone knew of Pains real identity.

prime nagato. someone asked "what if madara summons kurama?" the answer would be chibaku tensei. LISTEN! if its PRIME nagato, i believe his chibaku tensei would be on a much larger scale than when he fought narauto. it would be almost similar to when he fought bee, itachi and naruto. kurama would be sealed and than nagato can continue fighting and winning against madara
