No previous training in this element, as for the battle ground... I guess just an open field will do... Don't really think we need anything else for Katon training.

Katon is the Japanese word for Fire, which is one of the 5 basic elements in the Narutoverse... Along with Water, Wind, Lightning and Earth. Fire can be used in conjunction with Water, Wind and Earth to make either stronger attacks or create new elements such as Steam or Lava. Fire needs fuel, oxygen and heat to burn... 2 of which are supplied with the users own Chakra as it becomes both the heat and the fuel source that can stem onto other objects or jutsu to increase their strength. The Uchiha Clan was believed to have a natural affinity towards Fire and excelled in it's art.

Fire is strong against Wind, as oxygen is needed to create fire and the more oxygen present, the stronger a fire is... However a strong enough wind can more than certainly put out a fire or even turn it back on its user.

Fire is weak against Water, because it displaces the oxygen molecules within the flame and creates steam which takes the heat away from the fire and not allowing it to burn... However a strong enough fire is always able to evaporate water.

I'd also like to add that Earth can somewhat be classified as a weakness to Fire since you can smother the flames to extinguish them, even though it isn't stated or mentioned, it's somewhat logical.

Sasuke, Itachi and Hiruzen all use Katon.

Now come over here and take this piece of paper in-between your hands. Focus your katon chakra, and then channel it through your hands into the paper. As the amount of chakra you channel into the paper increases, the paper should start to ignite. After focusing an adequate amount into the paper, it will turn to ash in your hand.

Cloud nod his head and did specifically as his Sensei had instructed, walking over to her and taking the small piece of paper from her hand. To Cloud, the paper didn't look or feel any different, but he had to go with his better judgement of trusting his Sensei and he did just that. Placing the paper in the palm of his left hand, Cloud placed his right hand over the top with all of his fingers being placed together on both hands, like he was cupping the piece of paper - From here, he closed his eyes and took a steadying breath before focusing his chakra into his hands... It wasn't an overly hard task, it was a simple Chakra Control technique and Cloud could almost feel the heat radiating within his hands. Wondering if his job had been completed yet, Cloud lifted his right hand away and opened his eyes, glancing down to where the paper had been... Though much to his dismay, a small fragment of the paper remained intact within his grasp beside a small pile of ash. Unsure what this meant, his gaze moved upward towards his Sensei and he spoke:

"Is this sufficient enough Sensei? Or would you like me to turn all of the paper into Ash?"

A simple technique really. Convert your heated chakra into fire, and then expel balls of fire from your mouth, burning my clone severely.

Cloud turned his attention to the clone and began to concentrate now, more of his Chakra being sent through his arms and as such, he began. Cloud instantly began performing the necessary hand seals for the technique, with each hand seal helping to identify precisely how much chakra was necessary for the jutsu, as well as help him with both the Shape and Nature manipulation for the technique. Once Cloud had finished the hand seals, the needed amount of Chakra had been successfully manipulated to mimic the element of Fire and so, the young Shinobi inhaled before moving his hands up to his face and holding them just below his jawline. From here, Cloud exhaled the Chakra within his system in 3 relatively short breaths, but now he had to now focus on the Shape manipulation of the jutsu. The first fireball Cloud exhaled seemed to mimic a more oblong shape which seemed to have no control over which way it fluxuated and the Fireball extinguished itself a short way before it reached the Clone.

The second fireball had some slightly more success however, with Cloud being able to reduce the oblong effect of the Fireball creating a much more spherical shape that traveled further than the 1st Fireball had gone, however the speed at which the jutsu moved was still too slow and the chances of hitting anyone with it were quite low. With the 3rd Fireball, Cloud applied slightly more Chakra to it than the others and that seemed to be what he needed, with the Fireball formulating due to many factors including his Shape and Nature Manipulation, as well as his Chakra and the Oxygen within the air and the Fireball had a much higher speed than previously, shredding through the air for what would be a direct hit on the clone's chest - Promptly incinerating the target, that would be assuming the Clone itself was to remain completely stationary.

However Cloud turned towards his Sensei, not watching if the Fireball hit its target or not because he knew he had to answer a question for his Sensei, one that would require some form of thought to it and reflecting back on what he had just witnessed, he believed he had found the correct way to answer the question;

"From what I can gather, an Advantage to the technique would be the fact you are capable of firing multiple attacks within such a short range of time to potentially trap your opponent and even catch them off guard.

However a disadvantage I found of the technique is both its rank and its range, being that it is a rather weak fire technique and only has such a limited range, meaning you can't use this in many instances aside from when your opponent is at a closer range to you.

Are these answers satisfactory enough for you, Sensei?"

(Katon: Kaen Shuriken Ranbu) - Fire Release: Blazing Shuriken Dance

Description: The user will throw several shuriken at the enemy and then inflames them with fire to cause extra damage.

Take out a few shuriken from your pouch, and throw them at my clone. Immediately release hot flames onto each separate shuriken to make them stronger and more deadly than normal.

Cloud smiled at his Sensei and immediately started trying to formulate how he would perform this jutsu with a maximum efficiency, something which he believed he had found almost immediately. Cloud withdrew 4 Shuriken from his pouch and held 2 in each of his hands. Cloud tossed the 4 Shuriken in the air above him and instantly began channeling the Chakra down his arms, kneading it within his body with the correct combination of hand seals whilst at the same time he concentrated on the Shape and Nature manipulation that he had previously used in his last technique, something which he knew would come in handy for this particular technique. As he was almost finished with the hand seals, his eyes glanced up at the Shuriken and Cloud jumped up into the air, leaning forward slightly with his arms extended to catch the Shuriken.

As he caught them, the young Shinobi continued to complete a front flip and as his feet hit the ground, he used the momentum from the forward motion to release the 4 Shuriken swiftly from his grasp... However he was far from finished. With the Shuriken being released, Cloud quickly inhaled and clapped his hands into a specific hand seal, bringing it back to his jaw line rather hastily so he could exhale the Chakra from his system and, once it had combined with the Oxygen in the atmosphere, Cloud had successfully fired a set of Fireballs which quickly caught up to his Shuriken and seemingly ignited the Shuriken as the now Flamed-Shuriken, if you will, were slicing through the air and about to slam into the clone's chest and stomach.

Due to the fire which surrounded the Shuriken, the effects of the jutsu were fairly straight forward in that, the Shuriken would now be heated and capable of cutting further into the clone than originally expected, whilst the fireballs themselves would incinerate the clone in what could only be expected as a painful death if one of the Shuriken didn't pierce the heart for an instant kill. Cloud seemed overall happy with how the technique had turned out and turned towards his Sensei once again...

"The advantages for this technique are essentially the same as the last technique, aside from the Shuriken themselves being much stronger than normal Shuriken allowing them to do more damage.

Much like the advantages, the disadvantages seem to be almost mirrored as well, and the technique could even be seen as slower since a person needs to perfectly time both the Shuriken and the Jutsu for it to take a complete effect.

Very good, but your flip and throwing them into the air are all uneccsary actions in battle. You can simply sling four shuriken from your pouch while simultaneously releasing Katon chakra onto them, in one fluid motion.

As the fireball flew through the air at the clone, Cloud - once again - didn't watch to see if the technique had made a direct hit, instead he turned back towards his Sensei and answered her questions as best he could..

The technique also has the same limited range as the previous techniques, however it can most definitely be used as a distraction or followed on with another technique to increase its power and range.

(Katon: Kasumi Endu no Jutsu) - Fire Release: Mist Blaze Dance Technique

Description: After performing the necessary hand seals Snake ? Ram ? Monkey ? Tiger, the user is able to create and blow a flammable gas from their lungs. Once it comes in contact with fire or sparks, the gas ignites into a large fireball.

Perform the required hand seals, and then focus katon chakra into your mouth. Don't create fire, but release a flammable gas from your lungs. Combine it with the best fire technique you have learned that would work well with this, and direct it at my clone.

Cloud knew this particular jutsu would be slightly harder than the last ones he had learned, for he was now trying to release his chakra in a completely different way. The trick here would be to somehow release his Chakra in a flammable vapor which would require a seemingly limited amount of Nature Manipulation and hardly any Shape Manipulation. Cloud closed his eyes as he prepared for how he would try and perform this particular jutsu, this had probably been the first time he had ever given something so much thought, especially with trying to calculate the best way to do things. Suddenly, Cloud's eyes snapped open and his hands moved as fast as they could whilst he inhaled a large breath of air, his body pivoting slightly so he was facing his Sensei's clone and as he neared the last handsign... Cloud took a single step forward and bent his knees, pushing up with all his strength into a jump - Figuring this would be the best way for the flammable mist to spread and cover a larger distance.

Cloud was now in midair as he exhaled the breath, a thick vapor of flammable mist which quickly aimed to spread out and blanket the area around the Clone - Trapping it within what is sure to be a quick death. Cloud had saved a bit of Oxygen in his lungs and once he had started expelling the flammable mist from his body, his hands began working again on another set of hand seals - And it was at this point that Cloud had already reached the Apex of his jump and was making his descent towards the ground below. However, before he touched the ground - the jutsu was ready - and Cloud utilized the very first jutsu he learned and with that he exhaled the remaining Oxygen in his lungs to formulate a small Fireball which soared through the sky and became absorbed by the mist, quickly igniting into a large fiery inferno which Cloud was certain had to be strong enough to destroy the clone.

"The advantage to this jutsu seems to be both its wide range as well as its strength as compared to other D-Rank techniques.

However the disadvantage appears that a skilled enough opponent is capable of blowing the mist away before you can use it... And even possibly using it against you in battle.

(Katon: Shōkasou) - Fire Release: Small Fire Stream

Description: The user will create a small short flame at the opponent. This flame is capable of making the target collapse due to the heat of the technique.

Focus chakra into your mouth, and release a short stream of flame at my clone. Make the fire hot enough to where he collapses onto the ground because of the stinging burns.

"Thank you Sensei ^.^ - However, I am only as good as you train me to be "

Cloud listened to precisely what his Sensei had just told him, he had to now concentrate on making a fire hot enough to cause his opponent to collapse... Didn't seem to hard, he figured he would just have to surround his opponent in a hot enough fire that it fulfills 2 special requirements - The first being to burn the opponent and put them in a tremendous amount of pain, possibly causing them pass out because of it... Whilst the second factor would be the flame itself consuming the oxygen and cutting off the opponent's ability to breathe; Inducing the opponent to fall into unconsciousness, an episode also known as 'fainting'. This didn't really seem like it would be too hard and so Cloud begun, concentrating his Chakra to become hotter than it was before, though it was more like he was concentrating more of his Chakra and compacting it.

Within a few seconds, Cloud was hoping to see his opponent unconscious on the floor with severe burns to a majority of her body.

"An advantage of this technique is definitely that it is stronger than the last ones I have learned, but it is also much hotter and that heat can be used in numerous ways to cause an opponent to become unconscious.

However the disadvantages with all of these techniques still remain relatively the same... The range severely limits them, making it much easier for an opponent to use Kenjutsu or even Taijutsu to attack you before you could use the attack.

Cloud listened to precisely what his Sensei had just told him, he had to now concentrate on making a fire hot enough to cause his opponent to collapse... Didn't seem to hard, he figured he would just have to surround his opponent in a hot enough fire that it fulfills 2 special requirements - The first being to burn the opponent and put them in a tremendous amount of pain, possibly causing them pass out because of it... Whilst the second factor would be the flame itself consuming the oxygen and cutting off the opponent's ability to breathe; Inducing the opponent to fall into unconsciousness, an episode also known as 'fainting'. This didn't really seem like it would be too hard and so Cloud begun, concentrating his Chakra to become hotter than it was before, though it was more like he was concentrating more of his Chakra and compacting it.
