mainstream Hip Hop and R&B of today (you can also share your thoughts on other types of mainstream music)

Personally i feel like a lot of hip hop artists and so called "R&B" artists of today are basically just singing/rapping about *** to get easy mainstream material (or just completely blowing it up with techno beats...). Big example "Birthday Cake" by Rhianna. Also music with stupid lyrics or repeating lyrics that get annoying real fast. Great example = Tyga's "Rack City". I kinda dislike how the radio glorifies this music and constantly plays it. Some of the songs i have no problem with but a lot of them get old quick, which is why i prefer my ipod =D Music like J. Holidays "more than another love song" gives me hope that music isn't completely going downhill though xD. I want more music with meaning and emotion behind it and that more people can actually relate to, not music about horny celebrity's or being sexy and knowing it (you know what song I'm talking about) or music that repeats the same lyric over...and over...and...over *turns off radio*

This is my personal opinion, you don't have to agree with it, but please, if you completely disagree with me do not start throwing insults at me etc. After all, we are civilized people =)

It's not even HipHop or R&B it's pop as simple as that.
Lyricly they don't even match up to a chicken, Lil Wayne is a great example.
Luckily there are still rappers who try to keep it real though not mainstream.

Great example, Never understood how little wayne got so famous :sy: recently though its been all about drake. Some of his songs are alright but a lot of them sound the same (his voice). I think hes receiving more attention than he deserves. Yea, i need to make time to go search for more new music thats not mainstream xD been busy lately though x.x

Some new stuff has decent beats, but that's about it. Old stuff was way better.

For ever decent song Lil Wayne has, there is 20 horrible ones. I made the mistake of buying one of his CD's once, and omg it had 1 good song and 19...I'm not sure what to call them. He has put out more songs than I can even count, and only a small number of them actually end up popular. Go to a record store he has like 30 albums and 2000 mixtapes out, each with 1 popular song on it.
