I wouldn't invent it.

I don't need a ring, a piece of paper, or a ceremony to display & dedicate my commitment to my love. I don't need to change my last name to his for legal purposes such as taxes, housing, etc. I also don't need it to give his last name to our child.

Marriage is simply for legal purposes, nothing more.

I just think that without it,people would be happier with just having a partner.

If people think that they are meant to have something,be it money,cars,a girlfriend who looks like 'x' or a great job whichi gives them satisfaction and doesn't 'just' pay the bills etc, then they tend not to be happy until they have these things.
They may even feel like they are dealing with what they have until the 'real deal' comes along.

I think that the same applies to marriage. Many people think it's a normal part of love and life,but it's not. It's man/woman made and has financial & legal reasoning as it's basis,rather than the wellbeing of the people in question.

It is usually men that benefit from a marriage. There was a research paper a couple of years ago that showed men's health and mental wellbeing improved in a marriage whereas a females is usually better outside a marriage lol most men who leave a marriage enter another one fairly quickly. It was invented by men so I suspect it would be invented again

TBH I think that the celebration is fine.

If it were up to me, I would gather everyone together for a big celebration and to unite the families. But this wouldn't and shouldn't be a one off and shouldn't be joined with the signing of a bunch of legal work too.

Have a party,celebrate love just leave money and paperwork out of it.

Marriage is not the sum of countless traditions and although I agree it can't/shouldn't be reinvented,I do think we could come up with the idea of celebrating things,it's only the writen work I think we wouldn't bother with or would sound stupid to modern man/woman.

Marriage is simply a personal contract stating that you'll spend your life with your spouse and no other and that you'll share responsibilities in anything the two of you obtain/decide in your life together.

I'm not talking about divorce. When you get married there's a lot of legal issues which come into play. If you don't know about them,then you have a new topic you can learn about.

Also,What you've said is not thread related. The thread asks if you would reinvent it. Not your thoughts on the legality of the topic or the costs.
