Do you think Itachi was meant to be good from his character's conception?

I honestly don't believe he was meant to be good. From the beginning of Part I, I think he was just as we saw him: evil and indestructible. But as the story continued, I think he just turned out to be good. It probably has a lot to do with Sasuke. I mean, if Itachi was bad and just killed his clan mercilessly, then Sasuke would likely not have been an antagonist anymore after he died.
I am glad Itachi did turn out to be good as he is one of Naruto's strongest allies. And I'm sure Naruto will say/do something to change Sasuke's mind eventually. He's that way with everyone he meets..

So you think the mission was part of his creation? I feel like it just sort of conveniently slipped into the story. But I'm not saying that's a bad thing.

now that you mentioned it, I also think he wasn't meant to be good...but I like it as it turned out coz he's one of my favourite characters

Anyway Itachi has always been good, he planned everything. But failed. Actually he had failed since he couldn't kill Sasuke.

That's what I think. I know he never did anything evil, but it still feels like his turning out to be good was added much later than his introduction to the series.

I'm asking if that story was part of his initial concept. If from the moment he was thought up, that was his backstory. I understand what he did and I really respect him for it. I'm not saying it was fake or anything lol

Everything was off

him letting sasuke survive

Killing shishui who was one of the strongest in the village with no TRACE of battle found anywhere

him getting angry when they accused him of killing shishui his best friend

him letting kakashi survive

kisame noticing something was up

Then part 2 started

He smiled when naruto oodoma rasengand him , smiling at his growth in a way

then his talk with naruto in the forest before the fight, that just made it all clear

If i understand the post correctly, Kishi made Itachi's character initially evil then changed him later on in the series?

If so i don't know, but i do know that in the early Manga chapters there is a front cover with Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura on top of a snake, toad and slug (respectively). So clearly the connection between summonings, sennin sensei and our three central characters was decided by Kishi at that early stage. But again i don't know.

Itachi is a good person. His actions were just missed placed and misinturped bye many inculding his younger brother. He sacrficed himself so that many could live a happy life. Even joining Akatuski to look after his Village and younger brother from the shadows. Itachi was the last elite ninja to come from the village hidden in the Leafs. (not inculding Narutos Generation) He could have been a great Hokage in my book.
