Is Nagato stronger than Itachi? Maybe, but we really have to see Itachi be pushed to the limits by Kabuto, or anyone, before knowing for certain. The biggest item is Chibaku Tensei, because it is the best jutsu to circumvent the Yata Mirror's reflective ability.

Itachi had help against Chibaku Tensi, but we don't know whether he needed it - just like Naruto had Chiyo and Sakura break him out of Itachi's finger genjutsu awhile back, but we don't know for certain if he really needed two high tier medical ninja to insert their chakra to break him out. It's the same fallacy.

I'm sorry but Nagato will always be stronger than Itachi in my mind. My opinion about that will never change.

The author didn't give us any explicit reason to think Nagato was stronger than Itachi from their encounter. Not when Nagato regenerated his right arm from Amaterasu, not when Nagato his left arm from Susano'o, not when Nagato had his summons paneled, not when Itachi instantly deduced a counter to Nagato's ultimate technique, not when Itachi quickly sealed Nagato, etc.

Itachi wasn't shown or hinted to be hit by that attack, so why you would argue this? The author had Itachi conspicuously hang back so Nagato could do something impressive before being overwhelmed.

first of all "which one is stronger" cannot be judged by a single fight in naruto.
itachi had two perfect jinchuurikis with him back there.

and let's just say that in a one on one battle itachi is able to defeat nagato thanks to his one-shot kills.

that still wouldn't make him stronger than nagato. in naruto "which one is stronger" cannot be answered easily.

nagato is able to take on an entire village that has every kind of shinobi. itachi can never do that. now that answers which one is stronger. nagato is way more powerful than itachi.

Sorry, I didn't mean to beat a dead horse, but I didn't see my finger-genjutsu argument before, and I think it's relevant as to whether or not Chibaku Tensei would defeat Itachi, as its most likely the only technique that would trump the Yata Mirror. Most people don't seem to see the fallacy in their thinking that Naruto and Bee were a necessity as opposed to an availability, even some Itachi fans. I'll edit the original post to make this thread more focused and less convoluted.
