Anybody else disappointed with zetsu...(and clones)

out of all the last surviving akatsuki, i was really disappointed with zetsu , i was hoping he would have mastered mokuton or some genjutsu to the extent of hashirama senju did

the feats of the last surviving akatsuki

kisame:while injured he managed to fight 7th gate gai,he caused trouble for the whole group of people , and can summon thousands of sharks , he nearly defeated bee...and has more chakra than nagato....

konan:nearly killed tobi , even with prep time that is very impressive

tobi:taking on bee and naruto and 7th gate gai and kakashi at once , nearly destroyed konoha and kind of killed the 4th hokage(as in he forced the hokage into suicide)

nagato: blew up a village,took on the whole of konoha in a sick state , brought them all back to life and defeated two sages... forcing naruto to go ninetails....

zetsu: only said to use mokuton and troubled the 5 kage by element of surprise,good spy, no higher than regular jounin level...

I always thought Zetsu was fodder from the first day he appeared. He just didn't seem like the fighting type to me and that has been proven over the last several years.

Zetsu is one of the most unique characters in the series. He's not supposed to be a frontline ninja, his abilities are solely for the purpose of gathering intel and supporting/aiding Tobi's plan. He does that exceptionally well.

I wouldn't count him out yet, he still has a completely unexplained back story. Kishimoto wouldn't introduce him and than kill him off without something. Also the black one still has spores on kabuto, so we may see more of what he can do in the coming chapters

I agree.

Not all ninjas are good at fighting. Some are very skilled in spying/gathering intel. I think Zetsu is more like a support ninja. He helps his allies by gathering intel about the enemies moves/abilities.
This is how he helped the Akatsuki.

Till now zesu is just used to aid tobi and to fill some manga pages thats all.
But I think maybe he is somehow related to Madara and Tobi cause tobi's arms looks like zetsu's. And his teleportation ability might be linked with Zetsu cause zetsu can see larger region through roots so he can tell tobi the actual location for teleportation ...
Maybe upcoming chapters will show something about him ...
