doesnt other fanboys do the same such as minato's or nagato's?
i personally like both minato and nagato and i dont say they are stronger than itachi or visa versa but some fanboys may respect their fav character like the best
i'm assuming that you're pretty new to the base as your post count is 62(not a bad thing) and im not being a **** or trying to say you're a noob or you don't know your naruto but honestly itachi is one of those characters that causes a lot of controversy about who he can or can't beat. i agree he's a beast and so do lots of members but there will always be those who refuse to see the truth about a character and claim otherwise its the way of the base man, no avoiding it. trolls, fanboys and straight up idiots are lurking everywhere.
that said i disagree that he is underrated because his fan base hypes him waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to hard, one guy tried to claim that he was basically invincible

to be honest i dont see anyone else really beating itachi with his susanoo+ legendary weapons
some candidates are
Kakashi- due to his abilities with Kumai
nagato maybe
tobi? due to his space time tech?
Gaara ? he can use his sand and move itachi from inside the susanoo?
I've just been scoping a few threads along this base. And I must say, I find it scandalous at how incredibly underrated Itachi Uchiha is amongst some people on this forum. This does not mean to say he is on the level of Hashirama, Madara and co, but Itachi should not be paired up against shinobi such as Kakashi:sy:I felt this needed addressing.

Bish please, Itachi is the most overrated character on this forum and in the fanbase in general, you clearly haven't been on here very long. I've seen threads like Itachi vs the 7 swordsman of the mist, Itachi vs the 3 sanin, etc.
I remember the first time I saw Itachi. It was obvious he possessed power beyond that of many ninja, but he also appeared to be cool about it. I don't think he's underrated, however his peers who possess the sharingan seem to be more powerful. Maybe it appears that way as we never witnessed Itachi's true power, who knows?
