the only problem is that itachi only had one of shisui's eyes

could that be possible??

I believe it was stated that they must be a close relative yes, but if you think about it, it's all in who you consider to be your brother. Perception(i.e. Itachi considering Shisui his older brother) as well as Shisui being an Uchiha, should be able to grant the EMS to Itachi as long as he obtained both eyes, which he did not.

That's true, but there's still the concern of compatibility. It would still work if he used Shisui's eye, but there's a greater risk of his body rejecting it than with Sasuke's eye, because Itachi and Sasuke are siblings, while Itachi and Shisui are cousins or something.
