I can't say I hate her, but I don't love her either. To me, all she did was stand up to Pain the way Lee stood up to the Sound Ninja for Sakura in the first Chuunin exams. I say she'd be a better character if all of her actions weren't Naruto-based. IF aforementioned were true, she'd have depth in concept.
Although I am not a fan, I will show you guys how to bring her up, WITHOUT HAVING TO BRING DOWN SAKURA. A concept many of you seem to be failing to grasp
I think she has developed since we first saw her:
1. Her stand to Pain was brave. It gave me respect for her, but it's fairly minimal since that is the only thing she did
2. She developed her Gentle Fists through harsh training with Neji and the Twin Lion Fists were a result.
3. I also see that she is determined now more than ever. Even her father recognized how much stronger she is.
Other than those things, I don't see much else that she does. I can't see what's not there.. What I'd love to see her doing is something like volunteering at the hospital since she knows a little bit about taking care of people. To help someone (a random person) else because you want to, not because you love them is what I like most about Sakura and it'd be nice to see that side of Hinata. But since we don't see her do that, or much else but stalking, I find her to be lacking severely.
Lastly, physically, she is not stronger than Sakura. She isn't a Tsunade junior, but that is not to say she is helpless. She has her own way of fighting. Using her Byakugan to show Chakra points. Fingers and palms are not on par with fists coated with Chakra, or even without. I can't say who'd win in a bout between them. But the Gentle Fist is NOT an attack, it is a way to shut down the Chakra system. Even so, Sakura is strong without Chakra as we've seen through her hitting Naruto. If she did that to Hinata, or anyone besides Naruto, they'd probably end up in the hospital where she would tend to them.
Those are my thoughts on the Hyuga heir.
I didn't necessarily have to shut Sakura down in order to show her development. I hope you all can take that and run with it.
