How strong are the ANBU?

hey guys you got to remember not all ANBU members are Jounin level shinobi.
they have ranks with in the Anbu ranks. im pretty sure their are chunnin level ANBU that are stronger than any average level Chunnin. The Anbu are very skilled but being in the ANBU corps does not automatically mean your Jounins. even if your an elite jounin like Kakashi you would still have trouble taking on a few jounins at once because jounins are not weak. but Kabuto who is a medical Shinobi and who is as strong as kakashi would have no problem at all beating 10 chunnins at one time. so lower level ANBU do weaker missions like gather intel or escort people or deliver messages while higher ranking ANBUs and ANBU captains mange 3 man cels and do S-rank missions and protect Kages and valuable assets. so there are few elite ANBUs and many lower level ANBUs we see getting killed alot :noc:
Food for thought Guys ANBU are indeed elite but alot get bad match ups like Kabuto or S-class Criminals who they cant stand a chance against

Read this and it says they go on high rank missions, take orders from the kage, and handpicked by the kage from jounin. Plus, extremely powerful Jounin such as Kakashi, Haku (who Zabuza admitted was stronger than him), and Itachi were Anbu. so i think it is implied just a bit.

I know what the wiki says. It does NOT say that the ANBU were handpicked Jonin, just ninja. Nothing has ever stated or implied that they are above Jonin power wise...at all. There are some powerful ones, namely Itachi and Kakashi, but most of them aren't anything to write home about.

yup you are right you have to apply to join the ANBU Corps or be chosen. think of the ANBU as elite force Like CIA or FBI that handle all the dirty work villages never see or hear about. Look At ROOT Division ANBU. you gotta meet their minimum requirements and some and have a sort of special asset to give them like techniques or Bloodline Limits.

They don't seem that great. Kakashi and Yamato and the others that are really good aren't in anbu anymore.

Yamato never Left ANBU. he is still part of ANBU but is assigned to watch over naruto and team 7

I personally think kishimoto should make a small ark about Anbu

the ANBUs are supposedly skilled ninjas, but sadly we haven't seen them that much in action. they really look cool though.,

every time i see an anbu they either not doing anything but tracking, they get knocked out and become useless or they appear before the hokage.
