Must be an alternate series of Naruto that he's reading, coz I asked him to provide proof.

He's referring to the anime adaptation of Kakashi's death. Not sure if it happened in the manga. Also, he didn't actually meet them, they just flashed before his eyes.

Edit: Just checked, and the same thing happened in the manga, Kakashi was just thinking about them as his soul went to whatever plane of existence his father was on.
