I had actually forgotten all about orochimaru. I was earlier going through some old episodes and this thought occured to me.

Sure he is, but he never had any talent with forbidden ninjutsu, which was oro's speciality, which gives him the edge.

Im pretty sure he knew them lol he proved this when he made a kage bunshin vs oro and 1st and 2nd hokage. He was the master of all jutsu known to the leaf so im pretty sure that included them.

Apart from that one fight, we have never seen any other demonstration of Hiruzen's power. Given he was probably more talented than Oro, he died and Oro lived and we have seen him coping with many many more circumstances than we did with Hiruzen.

Well we did see hiruzen poke the kyuubi so hard with Enma stick that he pushed him out of the village. It was yin and Yang kyuubi too.

I agree, and orochimaru obviously surpassed the 3rd hokage, afterall, he did leave with his life. The best Sarutobi could manage was sealing off his arms, temporarily.

So without Kekki Genki, I say orochimaru has proven to be the most powerful, he can kill many ninja, some quite easily, who have kekki genki, and can hold his ground against most others.

The destined strongest were Madara & Hashirama
then it became Orochimaru & Jiraya
Now its Sasuke and Naruto

*sigh* if you decide to make a thread like this you have to do your research and back it up with evidence. All youve said is your opinion and nothing more. I do however agree that oro could possibly be in the top5 strongest non jinckricki/kg ninja's behind;

I can think of two people as of now who i believe is more skilled, without dojutsu, tailed beast and so on:

Hiruzen Sarutobi
Jiraiya

Probably more, but yes Orochimaru is incredible talented.

--When Hiruzen (no blood line limit [e.g. storm release/Sharingan], no blood line expansion [e.g. dust release]) was younger, he spared Orochimaru's life - it was a mistake. It's the only reason we saw Orochimaru in the series later on. Orochimaru was not the epitome of much.

--I'll grant he was a genius as many are, and a exceptional shinobi who mastered the branch of Kinjutsu as virtually none did, nor have since. Further, he seemingly perfected the role of being the main antagonist better than most and was a deep and interesting character, but that's as far as my praise goes.

--The fish bowl of ninja these days (post 4th war w/ IWR) is not as small as it was pre-time-skip, or ante-bellum (i.e. before the 4th War), he's simply not the among the biggest fish out there. I think that's a relatively fair, yet brief commentary, albeit I may have missed some stuff. :shrug:

I'm trying to remember who it was, but they made a brilliant thread on all of Orochimaru's facts/feats/hype, and I think their names was something like "OrochimaruIsAlive" (I'm horrible with names... Sorry). I recommend you search for it under the manga section.
