Ok so we all know how the power of the Mangekyou Sharingan is unlocked, So what did Kakashi have to do to unlock his?
I personally thought that Gai was Kakashi's best friend and im pretty sure he doesn't/ didnt have a a brother or sister to kill either.
I would really like to hear other peoples theories on this topic.
If this has already been explained in the manga then feel free to tell me as i must of missed it if it was. :kakashi:

u ont have to kill any one to unlock it you have to go through a tramatic experience since the sharingan wasnt his in the first place obito couldve unlocked it the moment he died, and kakashi just know has shown it, or released he had it

I thought you had to kill someone though, was Itatchi just lying when he said that to Sasuke?

Kakashi claimed to Sasuke that everyone close to him was already dead in part 1, it can be assumed that he was including Rin in that statement

I hope they end up showing exactly how it was unlocked in a future episode or manga because i believe there is a great mystery about it tbh lol

I thought that some people on here might have some complex theories about the whole eye situation.

thats my thought on it, obitos death was very traumatic to him so he just needed to get accustomed to it/further train it.

you have to kill your best friend to unlock so the time that obito dead or not becouse kakash thought that obito is dead that might unlock it
