Equestrianism : Sport or Play?

equestrianism, art of riding and handling a horse.

To some people. Riding a horse is not a sport. Most people who say that have never ridden a horse.

You are not simply balancing and holding on. And everytime you climb on, you risk your life. When you train for a show, it isn't all fun and games. You have to make sure you and your horse are up to par for whatever your doing.

Now, simply going out and riding in a field or on a trail could be called a hobby. You aren't competing. But I find that as long as its competitive, its a sport.

What are your views? What do you think?

I would say yes, it is a sport by definition.
