Why does naruto have whiskers? He had them before he got the fox. Is it because Kushina was the 9-tails jinchuriki and if so why doesnt Kushina have them?

Kushina had the nine tails in side her when he was born so I guess he got some characteristics of the fox

Okay, the first Leaf affiliated jinchuuriki was Mito Uzumaki, the wife of the First Hokage.

The second was Kushina Uzumaki, Naruto's mother.

The current is Naruto. Mito is not Kushina's mother, and was not born from a jinchuuriki, while Naruto's mother was indeed a jinchuuriki and subsequently was born before Kushina's seal broke.

Basically, the whiskers= birth mark. This is shown again through the various flashbacks of before Kurama was sealed in Naruto and he had the whiskers.

Because the energy that went into nurturing him was the energy used to maintain the Kyuubi's seal. That's why childbirth is the time when the seal is at it's weakest.
