Okay so as we all know Valentines Day is round the corner.
I wanted to ask your thoughts, fellow NarutoBasers, on whether Valentines Day is equally for both sexes.
Is it just for women and do men feel forced to make an effort on this day etc?

So thoughts please.

It's for the sincere ones. If both parties feel true love for each other, then the pleasure of love - and subsequently Valentine Day - is enjoyable for both.

If one's person is with another, only for fun and physical pleasure, then V-Day will seem like a burden for that person.

well i don't know about all countries, but in Denmark it is for women to feel loved and cared about, so us men we do a great deal of giving flowers, chocolate and doing many other things to make them feel this way

Yeah, amen to that. I just think that it's stupid that we actually need a day for that. Shouldn't we be showing our affections more often. Anyway you get it. :D

I'm pretty sure in all countries it's the same.

Ahem...wha?
I don't think it's for the sincere ones my dear. Not at all.
Valentines day is a day where women know they will be getting a treat & men know they will be spending money, not always true, just 95% of the time.
The next thing is, it's the least sincere thing in the world if I'm frank. To be guided towards showing feeling is almost the same as not actually feeling anything at all. I think a good relationship should have the sort of crap V-Day brings anyway, without a specific date cramming it down anyones throats. Sorry If I seem harsh btw. Just my manner.

No1: I live in Denmark.
No2: Denmark is the same as everywhere else in the world.
No3: Lemme guess, all your buddies are taking their women out/buying them flowers/cooking for them/buying chocolates or doing something to make them happy?

Let me detract for one second. I know I sound like I'm against it, but I'm not. I think Valentines Day is a loverly idea. But I think it's not how it used to be. Now we've come to expect things and when we don't get them,we get pissy.

I also think that if it were truly about making both sides happy, it wouldn't all be PINK now would it?

Well, it was my opinion.

If someone really love someone with both qualities and flaws, with both its personality as well as body, with both physically and emotionally, then I think it doesn't feel bad to spend money on that person.

If you really feel that you are doing a forceful favor to your girl on that occasion, then I don't think you are celebrating that moment with her as needed. Same goes for the girl.

Take Mother's day for example - you really love your mother but do you ever felt that you were doing somekind of favor to the one who gave your birth? Do you feel that that specific day was "crammed down in your throat"? Or was it a sincere and heartfelt feeling to give her a gift?

Sure, that date is a way to guide people's feeling but I think it's far far different than not to have any type of feeling. It's the way you react towards that guidance that tests your sincerity. Should people always feel that guidance on every day's life? Perhaps. But then again, that's another topic! Birthdays, Christmas, Eid, New Years' Spring ect... could all be celebrated everyday if I go by your reasoning.

Let's say you should keep the feeling of those specific day every single day but on those dates, you shouldn't feel it like a burden when you do that something extra-special. Sure, your counter-part perhaps don't feel the same way in some cases but atleast you know your own intentions was clear. And for that, you need to be sincere. That's how I take it and sorry if you can't digest my way.

It's for whoever wants to celebrate the damn day. It doesn't have to be for any specific gender.

Yeah. That's not what I'm really saying though. So no points.

Your views are all romantic ones. Not incorrect just over-romantacised.

Life isn't how you see it at present. But don't worry, time has its ways of making everyone see the ugly truths.

I know that I'm romantic at core and well, it's not like this makes all my views irrelevant. I view it as one of my strength. If you see it as one of my weakness, then that's your view but neither do you know me nor my complete personality either. So your analysis about me facing harsh moments in future is weightless.

Depends on how emotionally attached they are and or if they are into the whole romantic thing. Majority of girls dig it bigger ratio then males. If you wana score brownie points do it, if you want to get laid do it. If you want to be forever a lone, don't

Best comment yet. Well said. I still think there's too much 'should do this' about it though. I guess I'm saying it's to commercial too. Much like Christmas, just the thought should count.

Ambriel: Holy sh*t we agree. xd
