Hinata's done little more to "deserve" Naruto than Sakura. Heck, she was only watching him the whole time the villagers treated him like the demon within, and her excuse for not trying to comfort him was what, she was shy? That's pretty weak in my opinion. Sakura kind of pissed me of with that fake confession, though Yamato indicates she may like him. But of course, she has that undying Sasuke boner so we may never know...
