its said he can be TOBIrama (2nd hokage) but if u look at the shape of there eyes, the 2nd hokage's are chinkier (lol) and other people think its the SO6P but if you compare the wrinkle in their faces (tobi and so6p) there also different (tobi's go from left to right, vise versa) (so6p go's up and down, vice versa)

The sky is the sky everywhere you go and people are people. I thank those who are patient with me. I just had a thought maybe Tobi was from the Eddy village and he was a child when it was destroyed. Who knows what secrets that village held and pain saw his parents killed in front of him and grew up to become a beast. The Eddy village was destroyed before pain was born so i just thought maybe Tobi is the pain of the Eddy village. That would make him very, very old though. lol

Chapter 572 contained some important information that could provide a new of looking at who Tobi is.

I'll begin with the all important quote:

Sage of the Six Paths: "And unlike when you were within me, you will be lead down the right path, when the time comes, for you to know what true power is."

We've seen this theme before: "true power" is the will of fire, that is, power which comes from wanting to protect those you love. (this is what Naruto embodies).

The other power is the "untrue power", this is the power attained through hatred or arrogance. (this is what Sasuke embodies)

Now, the object of power in the manga has always been to achieve peace, even for the bad guys. Nagato wanted peace by inflicting pain on everyone, Madara wanted a peace where he was in power, and Tobi's idea of a lasting peace is by turning everyone into 1 with him. The villians are evil but in the end they all want some twisted version of an end to wars.

The break in philosophy about peace occurred, as we know, with the Sage's two sons. The oldest believed peace came through power, and the youngest believed peace came through love. We also know that the Sage chose his younger son as his successor because he agreed with peace through love.

But in 572 we learn for the first time that the Sage didn't always believe in peace through love. If he did, why would he express regret over the path he chose to the Bijuu? Something convinced him in the end.This means that at some point he favored the methods of his eldest son. Something changed his mind.

This would be a doubly painful thing for the eldest son. Its one thing to see it coming, but its another when your father did things your way and all of a sudden switched his mind over to the peace through love philosophy.


I really think Tobi could be the Sage's eldest son. He is bitter about his dad switching sides and wants to prove that he was right all along.

I disagree with your conclusion, but great thread.

lol you're comparing faces when you could just state that Tobirama, the 2nd hokage, was revived by Orochimaru hence he can't he Tobi. Simple as that.

I know, Itatchi witnessed his death, activating his mangekyou. Sasuke witnessed Itatchi's death, activating his. Who is to say seeing the woman he loved dead on the ground didn't activate Obito's Mangekyou sharingan, and drive him mad?

First of all chapter 572 was awesome... Definitely appreciated the insight into SO6P life.

Seems like were headin towards Naruto becoming the second Sage. But on to Tobi.

Some "spoilers" came out that im sure most of you are aware of (ill call them theories, cus thats what they really are) but yeah some theories came out that mentioned something ive thought for awhile about tobi.

Because i have never seen him with his sharingan off, it makes me believe hes not really a pure Uchiha. Tobi mentions that you must have senju and uchiha blood in order to use Izanagi, which he uses against Konan. Since then, ive felt like Tobi didnt get the firsts DNA, madara did, but Tobi was BORN with uchiha/senju blood or, what it really might be, is he is born with uzamaki/uchiha blood. I think his dad was an Uchiha (maybe madara, that would be cool) and his mom was Uzamaki.

Im not gonna bog this down with reasons why, but this is just a theory. Also I think he had something to do the Eddy village being destroyed...or madara did... Madara mentions that he hasnt enjoyed a seen like what he saw after he dropped some serious jutsu all over the joint army and that made me think maybe thats how the Eddy village was destroyed....by that same justsu

Tobi = Tobirama?

I apologize in advance for the long thread. Please read carefully.

There are tons of theories out there.
Examples: Tobi could be zetsuclone/half madaras soul/izuna/obito/kagumi and many others.

I think its a better possibility than some of these theories that tobi could be tobirama.

i will cover why he could be and why he could not and try to counter them as best as i can. here we go. (and no, i don't care about name similarities so i won't mention that)

1. Tobirama is known to have a s/t ninjutsu. Minato states this during his fight with tobi. We never saw tobiramas space time ninjutsu so we can't say for sure if tobi is using a similar one or even an enhanced version of it.

Now you say wait, minato says that tobi's s/t is better than both minato and tobirama's. It could be that tobirama never showed the full extent of his s/t abilities to anyone. OR he could have honed his powers over time and learned a new way to use it, which is what we see with tobi.

2. Tobirama made anbu black ops. This organization is very sketchy and is all about secrecy. they even have seals that mute anyone that tries to talk about the organization. As this is a strategic move to make a good group that works in the shadows, its also quite strange to be such a good person, but make such a harsh organization.

You saw how danzo acts. he does anything he needs to do to make sure he can do whats best for the village. ANYTHING. which resorts to low life tactics. He had to be trained by someone right? he was trained by Tobirama. So that would say that tobirama is hardened enough to do ANYTHING it takes to bring peace. even if its lets say, controlling everyone under the moons eye plan?

You say, tobirama is a good guy. brother of the first. why would he do something like this? WELL, he probably got tired of waiting for peace to happen naturally. all he saw were wars and they went no where. he is tired of wars and people killing eachother. what better way to stop that by controlling everyone? Also, His brother died. Brothers have a strong relationship in naruto, maybe that made him bitter.

3. Tobiramas faked death. We all saw that tobirama said that he would have to fight 20 skilled ninjas in order for his students to get away. Now 20 skilled ninjas sounds pretty tough to fight right? We are talking about Tobirama here. Brother of Hashirama. Creator of edo tensei. Master of water element. Capable of space time techs. And who else knows?
If he can't fight 20 ninjas back then, thats disgracing tobiramas name nad powers. Even if he was about to die to 20 ninjas, why not just stall then s/t out of there? He appointed sarutobi as the hokage before he left. Why would he do that? how did he know for sure that he was going to die?

He stalled/killed all the ninjas and left the village after faking his death.
Why would he fake his death you ask? It was necessary to break the ties of the village so he could carry out his plans. whether it was emotionally breaking ties or just leaving so he could concentrate in peace. Also it was so he could form akatsuki to carry out his plan.

4. Tobirama created Edo Tensei. So the big mastermind of Edo Tensei. The one that knows it inside and out. It is unsure if he made it before or after his brothers death. It could have been an attempt to bring back his brother. who knows? Anyway, he made it and knows all about it.

why is this important? Because a big hole in the Tobirama = tobi theory is that, based off what we know, you need The DNA and SOUL to bring back a person using Edo Tensei. But what if we don't know the whole story. Or what if the man behind Edo Tensei somehow knew how to cheat it to make it possible for him to still be alive and also have an edo tensei of himself? Why not? hes the mastermind behind it. It would further help promote him faking his death.

So that is my counter to "Tobirama was resurrected with ET so he can't be alive" argument.

5. Tobirama's era is of hashirama and madara. Since tobirama is in the same era as madara, he would know almost everything about madara, since they were once an alliance. This would explain how Tobi knows so much about madara.

Tobi wears a mask, maybe he doesn't want people to know that tobirama is the actual villain. He probably hates madara, so he uses his name to start the war. and what better person to use than madaras name? Drag him further down the mud.

One thing that tobi hated was when kabuto showed him the sixth coffin showing the real madara. Tobi(tobirama) was shocked and seemed angry. For not only having to see the man he hates in the flesh, but also that he won't be able to be known as madara anymore since madara is obviously edo tensei'd.

6. Tobirama is already a senju. Meaning based off the "You need senju/uchiha dna to have rinnegan" theory, he already has the hard part of it. Now all he needs is a sharingan. He implants it and there you go. He gives his rinnegan to nagato so he could have a powerful ally and a back up resurrection in case he died. There are also plenty of uchiha in his time and the time before the massacre. as you saw, he has plenty of eyes at his disposal.

what other person is more qualified to be tobi? Tobirama has the power, the knowledge, the will to do whatever it takes. even if he has to be the bad guy for a bit to accomplish it.

7. Tobis hair is black, tobirama is white... it might be silly but... he dyed it??


Im not going to say this is the best theory to explain who tobi is, but it sure is a hell of a lot better than the dumb obito theory. i think we can agree with that xD

EDIT: Tobi didn't know about ET and asked Kabuto how it worked. And hair dying thing and all those assumption are really.. far fetched. Why would Tobirama let go off hokege position in the first place even if he wanted all those things.

So reading through the manga i came along onto this:

Before tobi summons the 9 tails right when he enters the area, the third hokage feels his aura or presence and recognizes it but puts away the thought bcz it seems impossible. Now remember we've seen lots of things in naruto that borderlines impossible, so perhaps the identity of tobi or at least that man 16 years ago lies in the past, like first or second hokage past.

I think the cold atmosphere was the presence of the Kyubi after it was ripped from Kushina, not many Ninja have a presence that can be bestowed over an entire village like that.
