DBZ one of worst animes ever

the fact that DBZ became popular over seas and created an oppurtunity for other mangas and animes to be accepted by westerners does make it a legend..

you should really talk about bad reasonings..

you never addressed anybody who gave you a great point on the plot and character development DBZ has..

I dont have time to reply to everyone in this thread, Ive replied to a few but most are just saying the same thing and dont deserve replies. If you think DBZ has a good plot then you have the mental capacity of a 5 year old.

fact is. DBZ plot is very very simple. Goku is the hero and savior of Earth. many times evil guys appear wanting to either destroy earth or take revenge on Goku, the evil guy is defeated by Goku with the help of friends. of course Goku has to become stronger, to fight stronger bad guys. Of course the bad guys have to become stronger, or else their wouldnt be a purpose for Goku and friends to become stronger themselves.

dragonball was all about Goku wanting to become stronger, a better martial artist. why because the love of fighting that he had came from his beloved adpotive grandpa. end of dragonball he beats piccolo who threatened the world on a 1 on 1 tournament.

beginning of dbz things take a twist for the great to find out Goku is part of a warrior alien race. this race are born with the love to fight, to challenge themselves over and over again, with the capacity to become epically strong. this has explained the nature of why Goku loves to train and fight.

raditz was the first bad guy and Goku was too weak to beat him alone. vegeta is the next and is stronger only cuz he was superior to raditz. frieza is the next stronger bad guy because he was vegetas boss. he was revealed to be the one who destroyed Gokus home planet. the androids are the next strongest bad guys because Gero who was from db had kept surveillance on the z fighters and bad guys for years, preparing cyborgs to kill Goku, preparing them to be stronger than all the z fighters and bad guys including frieza and king cold. cell was even stronger because he was made to be the perfect being, prepared and designed stronger even more than the andriods, buu was stronger because he was created by a evil sorcerer long time ago. and the only reason he was revived is because of how strong goku and vegeta had become of fighting all the bad guys who became stronger after another.

character development:

vegeta starts off bad. settles down and becomes good. loathes himself for becoming soft and becomes majin. but again becomes good tries to sacrifice himself by blowing up to become the hero that goku has always selfishly taken the role of. he ackowledges goku at the end of dbz and dbgt as his friend and the stronger and better man.

gohan started out as a pathetic kid. piccolo trains him making him survive on his own in the wild. gohan becomes strong and has no tolerance for people who are mean, shown when he saved dende. but gohan has always hated fighting unlike his dad who loves it. this is explained when he is fighting cell. gohan stops fighting and studies when he grows and goes to hs. but again reaches new hieghts of power and new confidance when he becomes mystic, as noted by piccolo who has knowned him since he was a baby

piccolo was pure evil. the complete opposite of his pure good side Kami. his only goal was to kill goku and rule the world. but he has to side with goku to fight raditz. and to save the world that he wished to rule he trained his mortal enemy's son to protect it against nappa and vegeta. piccolo does the unthinkable and sacrifices himself for gohan. the once purely evil piccolo does that. and he countlessly again and again puts himself in harms way to save gohan in the future and movies. he befriends goku, admires him, is like a second father to gohan and trains both goten and trunks to fuse.

thats only 3 of the dbz characters!

your stupid statement that there is no character development and that no plot and that characters get stronger for no reason is stupid. a 5 year old can see the development and plot. for you to not see it nor understand it makes you more stupid than a 5 year old..

DBZ was a great anime and manga.... alot of animes have taken alot of ideas from DBZ. Also, has put anime on the map in america. Try and find a great anime to watch in late 90's on TV. I have had to go to House of anime(in Atlanta) to watch subs or by them AWA(Anime weekend Atlanta). I was in japan from 06-09 and there is still crazy amounts of DBZ shit. my point is that it has had an bigger impact on anime than most.

I think that DBZ was a very successful anime/manga because of the fact that it created a world in which the viewer wanted to live in. When I was a kid I always dreamed of having the kinds of powers that Gohan had during the story. Hell, every time I re-watched the Gohan V Cell battle I still get chills when he goes SS2. Part of creating a great story is to have something in which the viewer can relate to and to most importantly implement a unique surrealism that keeps the reader/viewers fascinated and thought-provoked. These ideas can be found through out Naruto and many other manga as well. What also made DBZ stand out was it's simplicity, as many people have already said Good vs Evil, learning from past experiences and growing from them.

dbz was good since it was easy to grasp and was really creative so it became popular

When was the last time naruto lost a fight?! Agaisnt sasuke at the valley? That was the only L he ever took ever!! Yea cuz naruto isnt getting stronger and stronger after each chapter right?

U can think of a thousand of million shows that deserve the legendary status that dbz is but fact of the matter is that there is only 1 dbz n it has the acknowledgement of being legendary. Just read the 200+ previois posts. U think this is hype?!? U serious?

This thread is comparing a classic to the new.

Lets take football for example:

Ignorant people would say the NFL today is so much better than the ones in the eariler days and the players are fast/stronger/smarter.

The fact is that yes today's players are faster/stronger/smarter, however without the NFL and the players from the earlier days there wouldn't be players of today.

Case in point DB/DBZ/DBGT. Only reason that anime is popular like it is now is because of DB. There has to be a precedent to everything. Naruto / naruto shippuden is what it is today because of DB. Honestly honest opinion based on personal taste is one thing, but opinion based on anime/manga from the past comparing today's anime is just ignorant.

nice thread, urges me to post my precious first post.

DBZ is one of the best during those times. reminds me of my childhood where anything has a happy ending, that good prevails over evil and there's no such thing as open-ended storyline.

when i grew older, im more facinated with Hunter X Hunter series where there is thick plot and strategies involved.

DBZ is for kids. but what can we say, our memories as a child is priceless and nothing can compare to it....

DBZ is one of the greatest anime of all time, there hasnt been a year thats gone by since 2005 that I watch the entire series.
