Can someone explain what makes Pre-Crisis so strong, why he lost this strength and what exactly was this "crisis"?

He was basically god before crisis, then DC decided to change that to make him more... human. That way there would be more conflict for superman and better storytelling.

They started to realise how stupidly OP he was and it was getting harder and harder finding suitable opponents for him so reduced his power.
Even in the games, Superman couldn't die. The only was to lose was through property damage or civilians dying.
The Crisis refers to "Crisis on infinite earths", a crossover limited series comic. After that is when they decided to reduce his powers.

Pretty much DC needed to revamp some of it's bigger titles Batman, Superman, The Flash so they set up Crisis on Infinite Earths to do just that plus they were able to squeeze out a few new characters and kill some not so popular ones off... easy, peesy, japa-... you know the rest.....
