Here's the second chapter. I thank everyone who read the first chapter. :)

Chapter 2

She ran back to her house as quickly as she could. If she wanted information then her Mom must have had some books laying around, or could have left anything about the ring. After her parents disappeared she couldn't bring herself to go in their room, and their study. It was just too sad every time she tried to go in, so she tried to forget about their disappearance. It was impossible to forget their disappearance, but she just avoided everything related to them. 'If I didn't avoid everything back then, maybe I wouldn't be in this situation. Maybe I would have known about the ancient magic power hidden in the ring. I probably would have known to be suspicious of strangers who try to get close to me.'

She felt stupid for not looking for anything, but it wasn't her fault. No one believed in magic power; it was impossible for it to exist. Magic was too crazy to talk about, but sometimes crazy was fun. No matter how she looked at it, it would be too boring if everything was normal.

When the house was in view she started to dash toward it. Her stomach argued every time she moved, and she was out of breath. She didn't care about it, though. She was only focused on finding information on the ring. In her opinion, the key to fighting was information, and she lacked information.
She ran up the stairs and immediately went to the first door she saw, and then opened it. The sight she saw completely devastated her. The study was empty. Only an empty book shelf remained. Where did the desk go? She remembered that there was a desk in the middle of the room, but the desk was gone.“N-No. Why? When did this happen?” she asked herself in shock. She couldn't understand how it happened. She has been cautious every time she left the house, or went to bed. She locked all the doors, and then she would double check all the windows. It should have been impossible to get inside the house without her knowing. It seemed like somebody didn't want her to know about the ring. 'I'll be at a disadvantage, then. I don't know anything about the ring.'

She wouldn't let that get her down, though. If she allowed that to affect her then there was no way she would be able to fight. They would never get the ring. She was going to make sure that they never touch the ring.

She walked downstairs and went on the couch. She was exhausted, but her main worry were her hands. It would be difficult to hold a pencil, let alone the staff. It probably would have been better if she tried to avoid going to school, but would be impossible with the first year test she had to take tomorrow. It was the one test she couldn't make up if she missed it. She heard rumors that the test could last the whole entire day. She doubted that it was that long, but how did rumors like that start? Even if the test wasn't all day she couldn't fight if that guy showed up again. “What should I do if I get attacked?”

'Why fight when you can join the darkness?' she heard.

She looked around to see where the voice came from, but she didn't see anything. “Great! I'm already starting to hear things! I hate being tired!” She hated when she heard things like that. She had to get some sleep before it could get worse. She was tempted to close her eyes, but she didn't want to close them. After what had happened she would be shocked if she could sleep. Not to mention, it was too early for her to go to bed. She was exhausted though; there was no way she could go the whole day without taking a nap.

She tossed and turned until she finally gave in to her sleeping temptation.
She slowly opened her eyes, and then she stretched as she got up. 'That was a nice nap! What time is it?' She looked at the clock, and was shocked when she didn't scream. Her clock was broken. It had to be broken. There was no other way to explain the time. There was no way it was five in the morning! 'I know I was exhausted, but how did I sleep for so long!?'
She didn't know what time she went to bed at since she didn't check the time after the battle. It was still light out when she got home, so she assumed it was early. Her assumption was most likely wrong, or she was more exhausted than she thought. She started to run upstairs to her room. She had to hurry up, otherwise she would be late!

She ran into her room that was painted yellow since it was her favorite color. The bed was made since she didn't sleep in it yesterday. There was a black dresser next to her bed with her alarm clock on it. The only other thing in the room was a desk for when she would do homework, or when she had to research. Sure, it was a small room, but it had everything she needed so she didn't complain. She grabbed a yellow T-shirt and a pair of yellow jeans out of her dresser, and then ran out of her room.

She went in the bathroom, and then brushed her teeth. She had to leave by six to make it to school on time, so she still had an hour to get ready. An hour to get a shower, get dressed, dry her hair, and have breakfast. It wasn't impossible for her, but it would prove to be difficult.

She threw her clean clothes in a corner, and then put the clothes she wore yesterday in the hamper by the sink. She walked into the shower, and then turned on the cold water. She usually wouldn't take a cold shower, but cold water was good on burns.

The water was freezing as it rained down on her, but her hands felt better. It felt like the water would completely heal the burn, but she knew it wouldn't.

She rubbed shampoo into her hair then went back into the cold water. She wasn't use to the cold water, but she endured it so she wouldn't waste time.

After she washed the shampoo out of her hair she rubbed conditioner into her hair and went back into the freezing water. If only she didn't fall asleep she wouldn't be rushing through her shower! She wanted to enjoy her mornings instead of getting ready.

She jumped out of the shower, and then put on her clean clothes. She opened the cabinet under the sink and grabbed the hair dryer. How much time did she have left to get ready? She wish she could know what time it is without looking at a clock. It could really help her at times like that. She plugged the hair dryer into a circuit, and then turned it on. She had to hurry up, otherwise she would have failed the test. She still didn't know what to do if the enemy attacked, but she had to worry more about the test. She hoped there wasn't math involved. Ever since she was little she couldn't understand math at all, even if she had a tutor to explain everything. Five tutors gave up on her, and then claimed that she would never learn math.

She was sad when they gave up, but she didn't give up. She went to the teacher for help everyday since she knew the teacher felt sorry for her. She somehow managed to get a C in math ever since first grade. She was grateful to that teacher, but no other teacher helped her. She had to go back to that teacher every year just to get help, which she found to be pointless if her teachers would just help her.

She placed her hands in her hair to see if it was completely dry, and felt relief when she felt her dry hair. She put the hair dryer away, and then ran out of the bathroom. All that was left for her to do was to eat breakfast. She looked at the clock while she ran to the kitchen, and then nearly ran into a wall. It was five after six! She could still make it if she left within five minutes.

She threw a piece of bread in the toaster, and then grabbed the butter from the fridge. As soon as it came out of the toaster she buttered it. She put the butter away, and then grabbed her bag. She put the piece of toast in her mouth and ran out of the house. If she didn't hurry up then she'd be late! 'Why did I have to take an extremely long nap!?'

The toast was gone within a few minutes, and by then she was able to slow down. She should have been close enough to the school where she could walk the rest of the way.

She wished she had time to grab her jacket; it was the first cold day of the season. What a horrible day she was having! First she had a lot of stuff to do in the morning, and then she had the test to worry about, and she forgot her jacket!

When she reached the school the teacher at the gate said, “Go to the auditorium.”

She ran to the auditorium as fast as she could since she knew the bell would ring any minute. As soon as she entered the auditorium the bell rang.

“Hey! Take your seat! We're about to start,” the teacher yelled with anger in his voice.

Geez, it was too early to be angry. She wondered how teachers could be so angry in the morning. She walked to her seat so the teacher wouldn't yell anymore. She had to look at the other kids around her just to see if she knew any of them. She didn't recognize anyone, so there was no way for her to be even a little bit comfortable during the test.

She looked at the test in front of her, and then she had to blink a few times because of what she seen. What was wrong with the school!? That wasn't a test! It looked more like a textbook! How did they expect them to finish this test within the school day?!

“Remember, you have to finish the test before nine. You have all day, and all evening. That's more than enough time to finish the exam. If you talk then you get a zero, and then you'll be escorted out of the building. If you cheat then the punishment will be the same, and it will include a week of detention. Remember this is a major test. It'll count as a grade in all of your main subjects. Good luck,” the teacher explained.

What!? She was stuck in there until nine!? With that much time she could easily finish the test, but that much time increased the possibility of the enemy attacking. 'How will I keep my grades up? I can't focus on this test at all!'

She grabbed her pencil then opened up the test book. She wanted to snap her pencil as soon as she opened up the book. She saw numbers and letters. There just had to be math on the test. She didn't see her teacher until the end of last year, so everything was a blank to her.

She randomly filled in answers for the matching answers, and then randomly wrote numbers for the open-ended response questions until she reached the reading portion of the test. There appeared an unusual amount of math questions on the test. It felt like she's been filling in answers for awhile.

She started to read the first passage in the reading portion, until she realized that she recognized it from somewhere. She usually never reads, so how could the passage be familiar to her? She took a closer look at the passage, and then she realized what it was. It was about the ring, and whoever was protecting it back then. 'It's on the test. I thought nobody knew about the ring, yet it's right here in front of me,' she thought as she continued to read the passage.

The passage was written a hundred years ago, and it took place in Europe.
There was a ring made out of pure gold, and it belonged to a girl named Misa. Misa was happy when her parents gave her the ring. It was the best thing they found; they were professors who were in charge of researching new land.

Shortly after she got the ring she started to change. She refused to leave the house, and wouldn't allow anyone to enter her room. No one knew what caused her to change, but they wouldn't leave her alone.

One day, they forced her out of the house so they could spend the day together. Even when she was outside, she wasn't herself. She was distant, and wouldn't answer any of their questions. That was also the last day they seen her; she disappeared and was never found.

Misa disappeared? That sounded a lot like what happened to her Mom. Was that the destiny of those who protected the ring? They would disappear?
'Does that mean I'll disappear too?' she asked herself.

'Of course,' she heard again. It was the same voice she heard yesterday, but she still couldn't find out where it came from, or who said it. That time she was surrounded by students, so it was useless to figure out who said it.
She didn't want to disappear like the others. She wanted to live her life without worrying about disappearing! She wanted to be normal! 'I don't want to disappear! I won't disappear!' she told herself.

“School? How boring. Don't you think so too?” she heard

She didn't bother looking around like the other students, she instantly recognized the voice. It belonged to the guy with the yellow eyes! Where was he? He had to be somewhere in the room, otherwise no one would have heard him.

“Fire! There's a fire!” she heard someone shout. That voice belonged to Kodoku! She would recognize that voice every time she heard it.

She turned around to see smoke near the back of the room. She heard screaming as the students started to run out of the room in a panic. She couldn't allow them to run her over; she had to stay in the room. She hid under her desk since no one was confusing and prayed that nobody would notice her. 'Lucky! Lets just hope nobody will notice me under here. A fire in the middle of the test when he shows up. The timing is too good, though,' she thought.

When she couldn't hear anyone screaming she came out from under her desk. How weird, though. The smoke was gone, and there was no sign of a fire. “Hey! Where are you!? I know it was you that caused that fake fire! Come out!” she yelled in anger.

She looked around again, but there was no sign of him. It looked like she had to hunt him down, and that was too much work just to find that guy. She held her hand up then shouted, “Lunar Power!”

That time she expected the power to engulf her, and it felt better than the first time. It was a calmer wave; one that cared. She grabbed the staff as soon as it appeared. It hurt her hands a little bit, but she ignored it.

“You finally transformed. I was waiting. This time I won't fail. As long as you can't see me I'll have the advantage,” he explained menacingly.

Where was he? She could hear him, but couldn't see him. She wasn't that good at thinking with stuff like that! It was like a trick question! “Come out already! If you're going to fight then fight!” she exclaimed in anger.

“Fight? I wouldn't call it a fight. Especially if you can't attack me! Shadow Wave!” she heard.

The next thing she knew a cloud of shadows surrounded her. She tried to hold in her scream, but it came out. It felt like the shadows entered her body then tried to rip her apart. She knew she wouldn't last long at that rate, but she didn't know what to do. He was hiding in the room, but she didn't know where.

'He attacked me directly last time. Now we're in the auditorium, where the lights are dim,' she told herself. Wait, could that be it? Maybe that was the key to beating him! “Light Lunar Moon Ray!”

Her staff glowed a yellow color before it sent the light in every direction. Since there was light in the room all the shadows were forced to disappear. She looked around until she saw the guy at the front of the room. “Hiding in the shadows. That suits you,” she said seriously.

“I wasn't expecting you to find me. I praise you for that, but that's not enough to beat me,” he said, and then his yellow sword appeared in his hand. “You'll need experience, which you lack. This time you'll see my true power!”

The sword had more power this time; the chill it sent was stronger. He must have gotten stronger over night, but how? Was it possible for a huge power change like that?

She would lose if she was weaker, and she knew she was weaker than him. 'Does he have a power source? Mine comes from my ring, but what about him?' she asked herself. She thought it was the sword, but she couldn't believe that the sword was the source. Something inside her told her it wasn't the sword, but something else.

“If you're not going to attack then it's my turn! Shadow Slash!” he shouted.

It was the same exact thing as his Fire Slash, except it was black. She didn't want to use Light against him; it wouldn't have been strong enough. What about water? Water might work! “Water Lunar Moon Strike!”

Her staff glowed blue, and then it shot out medium sized lunar moons, made of water, at the Shadow Slash. The Shadow Slash instantly broke through the water, and it seemed like the water increased its speed. Was it impossible to beat him? Was she only delaying her destiny? Everything her family had done was pointless, wasn't it? They were too weak to protect the ring. The cycle had to be broken.

Right when the attack was about to hit her she felt herself being pushed out of the way. The attack hit the desks behind her, and she looked to see who pushed her out of the way. Why was he there!? Her heart was pounding so fast; she couldn't talk. How was she suppose to explain what was happening!?

“What were you doing standing there!?” Kodoku yelled at her.

Why was he there? She was glad he was there, but nervous that he might recognize her. “W-What are you doing here? It's dangerous,” was all she said. She had to force the words out of her mouth. She had to learn how to talk to him.

“I know it's dangerous! That's why I'm here. It's a good thing I came, too. You can't give up against this guy,” he said seriously.

But how would she win against that guy? Her attack was too weak.

“You again! You won't mess up my plan again! Shadow Wave!” the guy shouted. He was using Shadow Wave again?

“Believe in yourself! You can beat him!” Kodoku yelled.

He believed in her? How could he be so confident that she could win? But if he believed in her she had to at least try! It wasn't only her life that was in danger! “Light Lunar Moon Wave!” she shouted as she held out her staff.
Her staff glowed yellow, and then a cloud of light hurled itself at the Shadow Wave. It looked like the clouds were trying to absorb each other, but it was impossible to tell which one would win.

“Can you use more attacks? If the clouds were closer to him then you could blow them up with fire,” Kodoku whispered to her.
That was a good idea, but what would the blast range be if she blew it up? If she blew it up then it might blow up the whole school. It bothered her how Kodoku knew what to do even though he wasn't involved. Or was he involved? Was he hiding a secret?

'Of course. Everyone has their own secrets. His secret is that he wants you to blow up the school with your attack. Do you really want to do that?' she heard again.

Where was that stupid voice coming from!? She was tired of it coming out of nowhere! 'I won't listen to it! It talked about darkness, so I can't trust it!' she told herself. “Air Lunar Moon Strike, followed by Fire Lunar Moon Strike!”
Wind came from her staff at a brilliant speed, and the clouds were flying toward the guy.

“Trying to get me caught in the blast? That will never work against me, The Great Yaburu!” he shouted.

Then fire came out of her staff, and flew toward the clouds. At first when it reached the clouds it didn't do anything, but then it circled all over the clouds.

“Get down!” Kodoku exclaimed as he pushed her down to the floor.

She looked up at the clouds just in time to see the explosion followed by a scream. It wasn't big, but it was bigger than she expected. The auditorium was completely destroyed, along with every single test that was in the room. Did it hit Yaburu, or was he expecting something like that? She may have heard someone screaming, but he could have been faking it.

When the explosion finally disappeared they saw Yaburu standing, but something was different. They ran over to him, and then she finally realized what was different. He was slowly disappearing; his body was turning into sparkles and disappearing. That meant that they did it. They won, but were there more people like him out there?

“Y-You managed t-to beat me. I congratulate you, b-but you'll never beat the others. Es-Especially this kid's brother,” he said before he disappeared.
Kodoku's brother? His brother was an enemy? That meant he knew what was going on. Then what was he? Was he an ally or enemy? Could she trust him while his brother was the enemy?

'Of course you can't trust him! Why would you trust someone related to enemy? All that will do is hurt you. Join the darkness. That way you'll never get hurt again,' she heard again.

She wouldn't get hurt in the darkness? That sounded nice. A world where she wouldn't get hurt sounded amazing. 'Maybe it would be better if I was surrounded by darkness. It sounds like I wouldn't have to worry about being betrayed.'

“I'm not an enemy, Miku! I'm an ally. I hate my brother! Don't listen to that voice!” Kodoku shouted.

He was an ally? But she couldn't tell if he was telling the truth or if he was lying. “Give me a reason why I should believe you. You lied to me yesterday whenever I asked if you knew what was going on. Why didn't you say anything? I was confused, but you wouldn't tell me anything.”

“That's because I told you everything I know, Lunar Miku,” he said. “I can't help you, though. You have to learn what to do on your own, otherwise you won't be able to fight by yourself.”

She could fight on her own, but it was wrong to want help? “I can fight on my own. I thought it would be nice to have help, though. Looks like I was wrong,” was all she said before she ran away.

How could Kodoku have been that emotionless? He should have understood that she needed help! She couldn't instantly adapt to fighting when it was only her second day of fighting. It also would have made it easier for her.
She needed to go somewhere, not her house, but somewhere else. 'The lake! I'll go there, since nobody knows about it,' she thought happy.

There was a lake located deep in the forest, and her parents discovered it while they were hiking. They took her there, and even showed her how to get there. They called it their secret hideout, since no one else knew about it.
She needed to go to the lake. She had to be
alone. She started to run in excitement toward the forest. She hadn't been to the lake in years, so she was looking forward to it.

When she entered the forest she looked for the tree that they marked. They took paint and painted part of the tree white. They wanted a color that would be noticeable. They thought white would be noticeable, so they used that color. “There it is!” she said when she found the tree. All she had to do was walk left for a while until she arrived at the lake.

The lake looked the same as ever. The water was pure blue; there was nothing to pollute it. Her parents even planted red roses all around the lake. It was a beautiful sight to see. Even the fresh air was amazing compared to the air around her house. If only she lived there then no one could bother her. It was peaceful all the time, and no one to disturb the peace. “It's so peaceful here. I could probably run away from Lunar Miku, and stay here,” she said comfortably.

Whenever she took a step toward the lake chains came out of nowhere and grabbed her arms and legs. She tried to break free, but she dropped her staff instead.

“Who are you!?” she shouted instantly.

Nice. The plot is really developing; I'm curious about Kudoku!
I loved her reaction to the test. xD

Keep checking for grammar mistakes, spelling, or the general 'flow' of your sentences. I don't think its too helpful >_>, but here's as example of a slight error I found (bolded was missing).
she had to blink a few times because of what she had seen.
I liked mysterious ending. It was dramatic.
I can't really tell you how to write your story; but I was wondering if you could've have cut this chapter earlier. Like, when she saw the passage on the test was about the ring or when the fire had started. Anyway, that's my opinion.

I really liked that you were descriptive about her room; I wish you had done the same for the study, since it seemed important.

Anyway, keep it up. ~

Thanks for the advice. ^^ This is something that I worked on for a lot of last year, and I didn't get anyone to give me advice on it since I barely finished by 2012. After I post all the chapters to this one I'll start posting chapters of something else I started working on. I'm actually really proud of the one I'm currently working on.

I actually wasn't sure if my advice/criticism was helpful or not, (I'm glad if it is!) but I know its something for an author to look forward to when they post their writing (at least, to me it is. >_>).

I guess we'll find out when I start posting my next work since all the other chapters of Lunar Miku was already written, and I really don't feel like editing it at the moment lol.
