Ah, loophole. So say I accept Jesus as my lord and savior but don't follow Anything he says or ever go to church or support creationism or whatever else, I still go to heaven right? Doesn't that kind of make the rest of the religion a waste of time? Not being sarcastic or mean spirited either.

is not up to me if you go or not to heaven if god forgives your sins when or before you die then i guess.

As a former atheist/agnostic (never knew myself which one) i can see why some of us don't believe...

I stopped believing because of the catholic church... and by the way, for me they are not Christians! They are just that: romans who used the apostles/Jesus teachings to take control over the ppl!

Then there's the part where: if you don't believe you don't go to heaven, but straight to hell... Really?! You preach a good, loving God that send ppl to hell, to eternal damnation because they don't believe? What if they did plenty of good things, helped out each other?! Oh they are homosexuals?! So what? They can't be forever happy?! They can't be loved by GOD?!

Then there's the abstract concept of God they many of us born in a catholic environment were taught that makes no sense at all. I stopped believing when i was about 12/13... They i reformulated the whole concept, looked within myself to find what god means...

Many of the believers try to push some concept they never thought about... they just replicate it and hope others will buy it. They won't!

Maybe once you stopped judging other for what they believe and start loving them for what they are, maybe then they'll understand what God really is. And even then, He will let them believe in what they want... it's this thing called free will.

much too my displeasure, i read the whole thing... still makes no sense, all you did was post a passage that contradicts my passage, both passages come from the same book.. so you jus made the bible look even worse.. my religious classmate told me a sin is a sin, but i guess not? ha, the bible is jus a convoluted book of contradictions..

I think the place we go after we die is.... No where, I know some people have a hard time accepting the concept but why is it easy to think of yourself as nothing before you were ever born but not after you die?

Ah, I've seen this discussion before as well. Extreme atheists tell people who are involved in religion that "Hey, you're only a Christian because Jesus promises you a nirvana afterlife." Heaven.

This isn't true. I have to repay an eternal debt to "Him." He died for me so now I will do great things in "His" name.

i find every major religion in history very interesting... well i love history in the first place so i guess what the people believed and followed would also be interesting. I just dont like following any. sometimes they creep me out, feel like if i do join it will restrict me and hold me back. plus i dont like the fact that my fate is or can be decided by someone i dont know. Things get very twisted over time so to me it would be hard to trust in anything a church says. thats just me. i do believe in a higher power, whether it is god or mother nature i dont really know. if there is some higher power than i believe their is not one human who can tell you every single correct thing about it.

in my case, i was born in a christian family, and i am rendered christian myself, but MOST of the time, i have an athiest mentality(i dont mean that im a rebel or bad person, rather i dont beleive any of the storys stated either in the bible or by hardcore christians). i do my best to live my life as a good human being , but i just cant believe in the system of god and stuff like 'if you dont believe in god you will go to hell'. the bible that describes god and heaven/hell has so many flaws and contradictions, so thats why i lean more towards sciences explanation of the big bang theory etc. but im not a close minded athiest , im still open minded to the thought of their being gods intervention somewhere in the universe but as of NOW...no i dont buy it.
i also dont like the ignorant christians that judge you on what decision you make on life if it has nothing to do with god, it makes me SICK.
