Why are you atheists/agnostic?

People should believe in whatever they want. If you want to believe that pebble in your front yard is the Creator of the Universe..go ahead, I don't care.

Now..when you start building institutions, and claiming what's morally correct and what's immoral, and discriminating against people and such..that's where I get annoyed.

Well, it is all easier when you have a lot of people supporting you, not that it is anymore true or "right" for that part~

And another thing is you do not need faith to be moral.... I fear no god and love no god, I love my family my friends and work supporting people with mental health problems for a living... I live by the law of the land and I am very happy with my long term girlfriend.

I am however sick of people blaming war on religon.... Religon does not create war at all... Man creates war and blames it on religon. All of the holy books state that you should not kill. People are just easily used.

Don't bite my head off or anything, but I'm going to tread shark infested waters with a sub machine gun and ask a couple of million dollar questions and say...

...what do atheists have to lose to believe in a religion? It's not as if you can say " Ha ha! I told you so!" if by some preposterous fluke that there isn't an afterlife/Lord Almighty.

By being a keen observer, I've also noticed that a huge number of atheists become atheists or agnostic because of one particular denomination:

The Catholic Church: I'm not trying to play the blame game here, but I've heard some wild stuff that goes on in this church. A large number of Catholic extremists scare people off because they say crazy stuff like "homosexuals are going straight to Hell if they don't renounce there ways." Also, a bunch of my friends who are atheists/agnostic said that they were brought up in a strict Catholic family.

Also number 2 question. Is it because you just want freedom in general from practicing any religious beliefs? I know I know, it's a chore and as a Christian myself I don't necessarily follow everything that the Bible says because I guess that's just the way I roll.

How is it that you 'know' it? Isn't that because you've been told it was so, or read it?
I mean, you never witnessed any of this, so your knowledge is indirectly acquired isn't it? Does not that make it somewhat unreliable as a source of knowledge??

That makes no sense.... If the earth can not be made on it's own how can god? In the olden days people used to say rain was from the gods and the lightning because they had NO IDEA how that could happen on it's own.... Now we know how that happens so we do not claim that gods do these things.

Just because we do not understand something it does not mean that a god did it.

So why are there MILLIONS of babies being born with aids and live for about 2 years of pure pain then die? How will they get into heaven? Do they get a free pass? What if one of them would have grown up to be a rapist would they still get into heaven? In Noah's Arc god killed all the evil humand and animals with a huge flood.... As the fish and ducks survived does that make all fish evil?
