All he said was that opening the first gate in no way implies that you can open them all.

Even opening five doesn't imply that you can open them all.

survived in war times

Sasuke with no sharingan only ever defeated Naruto
was a new Genin at the age of 12-13
got his ass saved by Naruto and Kakashi on his 3 first battle out of the leaf and would have died else way, even to those demon brothers (chunin level)

Deny any of those facts with manga proofs and I will admit your victory

He would have killed the guy as well and the guy was a really strong Iwagakure Jonin
Sasuke would died when he got in the way of the demon brothers but Kakashi saved him
When Sasuke rushed in on Zabuza, Naruto saved him
The fight against Oro is totally irrelevant as he had his sharingan already
Same for the Zabuza fight and Kirin

We are comparing their level without sharingan , you still fail to prove my points wrong, instead you try to find a way around them to make Kakashi look weak
