Sasuke's revenge isn't justifiable, but not irrational either. The elders decided to kill those who were weak and innocent amongst the Uchiha, not just the ones responsible for the planned rebellion. Since the elders killed all Uchiha indiscriminately, the only equivalent revenge is to kill all konoha equally indiscriminately. An eye for an eye, is what Sasuke wants. Just as the Elders took everything from him, so he wishes to destroy everything they wanted to protect. It might not be fair on those innocent people simply living their lives, but that's the fate the elders carved out for them with their act of genocide. To think they would get away with such a crime is what is irrational. Sasuke is entirely the consequence to their deeds.Sasuke is wrong, at least on a moral level, and he may have been driven mad, but the revenge itself isn't irrational. *soooooo Idk..
I agree with this, but this isn't just about the elders, remember that it was actually Hashirama and Tobirama who started this, Tobirama who created the uchiha police so that he could keep watch of the uchiha clan like they were a bunch of rabid dogs or criminals just because of what madara did, even though they betrayed madara and chose the senju.
The elders and the sandaime were just following in their predecessors footsteps and carried on the tradition of blame the uchiha for anything that concerns the fox and make sure they don't get too strong by making them freakin police officers when their powers are obviously meant for going out on shinobi missions and fighting strong opponents, you need to be danciong between life and death in order to master your sharingan, not watching over civillians in the village like a normal cop while you yourself are being watched like a hawk by A.N.B.U.
The Uchiha were not perfect angels but they didn't deserve the way they were treated and were pushed into a corner where they had no choice but to fight back, unfortunatley for them, their own prodigy and ace in the whole turned out to be a backstabbing snake.
Anyway I think even Itachi knew that what he was asking of sasuke was rediculous, no one would do what he wanted sasuke to do, Itachi knew this otherwise he wouldn't have gone to such great lengths to manipulate sasuke into becoming a puppet for konoha with all those lies and efforts to keep the truth concealed, even going as far as to try to control him with koto amatsu kami, which would have really turned him into a true puppet given how sasuke feels about konoha and the message that itachi implanted on that Jutsu.
I don't think anyone whose occupation is that of an assasin, especially considering that they are also required to lie, cheat, steal, and do whatever it takes to complete their mission has a right to talk about right and wrong, no shinobi has that right to speak like that given what they do, so I won't say whether sasuke is right or wrong, but I will say this, I would never spend my lifetime serving and protecting a place that was responsible for the suffering and ultimate demise of my family, I don't think I would be able to face them in the after life if I did that, and also don't think I would be able to face them if I didn't even try to get justice for what happened to them, so I can sympathise with sasuke.
I think before, when sasuke didn't know the truth, he didn't care about making friends or bonds, nor did he care about finding a woman to help rebuild his clan because what would be the point of having precious people when the person responsible for all killing all of your family is still out there and could come back and take it all away again and you would be powerless to stop him.
I think that is why he didn't care about anyone else at the time, because he had to kill itachi first and make sure he was strong enough that there would never be a repeat performance, and ONLY then would he open his heart up to find a person to love and help rebuild his clan, but now that Itachi is dead, and he knows the truth, that person that could take it all away again is konoha itself.
He probably thinks (with good reason) that it would be foolish to rebuild his clan at the place that did so much harm to it and could do it again, and he knows that they will never stop hunting him down no matter what, nasruto won't stop and the've almost captured him before after his fight with deidara and after his fight with Itachi and it was thanks to team taka against deidara and tobi against Itachi that he wasn't captured, the only way for him to rebuild his clan in peace is to destroy the ones responsible for its demise for revenge, and for his and his future family's safety and peace, just like konoha destroyed his family for their peace, an eye for an eye I guess.
I also think destroying konoha is a form of revenge against Itachi, I think sasuke subconsciously still hates Itachi because we all know that sasuke loved his family more than Itachi, he would have never done what Itachi did. When he told tobi that he wouldn't follow whatever Itachi wanted him to do and that he would rebuild his clan in his own way, the way he said made me think that what he meant was that he wouldn't be manipulated by Itachi anymore and I think that he subconsciously wants to completely eradicate what Itachi lived for, but I could just be overthinking it I admit.
Any at the centre of it, I don't blame sasuke and I think In the CONTEXT OF THE SITUATION, sasuke's ambitions to destroy konoha are more than justified, and it is true, the elders and the sandaime didn't even spare the innocent people and kids in the clan, so why should sasuke, besides, those kids that he might spare could cause problems for his clan and himself in the future, they will want their own revenge, why risk that?
But what sasuke did to team taka at the summit arc is completlely evil and irational, especially what he did to karin. I mean team taka are the ONLY ones in the whole narutoverse that didn't judge him, didn't try to make him do things against his will, didn't try to kill or capture him, but genuinely wanted and tried their best to support him and help him with his goals, and then he just deserts jugo and suigetsu like that and tries to kill karin, nah man, nah man! That was pure evil, come on, they were like the only people helping him to get revenge without really asking for anything in return.
When he first stabbed karin in order to get danzo, I was ok with it, I mean it was a win win situation, the stab would get danzo to let go of karin, she would be hurt, but she couyld be healed at a later time, danzo had too many injuries already so he woyuld be far worse off then her, so it was cool, but then I find out that he actually wants to finish her off!?
Na, his revenge quest made me respect him a little, some people would be cowards and justify their lack of action to get their justice by saying they overcame their hate or whatever, but after what he did to karin and taka, nah I hate the dude now and I hope he dies.
