I really don't understand why you are all so upset. A lot of people on here do use outside things like skype and such with each other. It doesn't stop them from using the forums though...I don't think it'd stop anyone.

look under my avatar and you will see an msn icon and a skype icon, clicking them will added them to your contacts where you can chat, you can add your IM accounts from your control panel
so i see no need to put such a huge strain on the servers when microsoft and others are willingly maintaining servers for you to chat

Well that's all well and fine if people want to give others their personal info right away. I however am not one of those people. This post wasn't for people to rage on, it's in the questions and suggestion section and it was for the mods to look at.

i really haven't seen anyone raging, if you stick around will will see what rforum raging looks like lol
anyways you can make IM accounts just for NB like [email protected] and keep your personal info safe which what most people here do.

btw some people might get upset because this thread was made many many times before, next time you should probably use the advanced search tool

Well they need to calm down. I've been here a short time and I've seen the same threads made hours apart. I know it can be annoying, but they don't have to click them, especially if its not even for them to read necessarily. But some people who've posted have seemed really upset talking about the site would shut down and no one would RP anymore...just being drama queens..

And I want the cake on your sig. Is that from Ouran?

i agree that a chat would be useful but it will strain the servers with hundreds and sometimes thousands of members online at the same time
i guarantee you that V will not do this no matter how bad some may want it.
besides i already gave you a perfect alternative

No I was asking for the chat feature in all seriousness, it just got derailed as you said. If people never asked for change just because the answer was no in the past, then nothing would ever change.

The whole point of it is to be able to chat directly with someone without them intruding into your personal life more than you want them too. Some people just wanna be able to have a good chat, and not go trough the pesky procedure of messaging back and forth, having to go trough loading pages and opening inboxes, etc. I think a simple chat feature with only the people on your friends list would do some good. But if it hasn't been accepted in the past then oh well. I think it would be nice though.

Just make a separate account for NB, so you can choose when you log on/off and talk to the people.

A chat feature does not defeat the purpose of a forum. Myspace had a chat feature, and their forums were still packed full of people. (I don't know about now, don't use it anymore) There is a difference between a one on one conversation between two people, and a forum. There is no place in a forum where you can have a chat about ANYTHING with another person without getting in trouble, or at least having some sense of privacy. Half the things people write to each other during a chat would be considered "spam" on a forum anyway. If we did have a chat feature here I don't see how that would keep me off the forums whatsoever. I would still post.

There are plenty of other sites with forums and a chat feature, and yet no where near the amount of support this site has. It's not impossible, and I think it would do some good as long as it's done right.

(We use the Free version, to make it easier for the staff to communicate, if we wanna chat, we use msn.)

Pretty sure we have more than 100 000 monthly visits as we can easily get 30 000 + each week.
So its 199$ per month. Atleast.

The ads and premium money barely pay for the bandwidth that the NB servers use.

Why don't you just post your MSN (or what ever) address on your signature with large enough size, coated with a message "ADD ME ON MSN! HUGE NB CHAT ORGY THERE", and host your own 10,000 people chat, about the things you want to blabber about?​

So many options, so little will to use them...
