Chat Feature

Would it be possible to eventually have a chat feature in the site? I think it'd be nice. You get together with people that you get along with and would like to chat with, but sometimes you don't want them so much in your business that you want to give them your skype, facebook, and such.

I think it'd be a great addition!

To avoid any confusion I do not mean 1 chat room that can support all 100,000 talking in 1 room at the same time. I mean 1 on 1 chats.

The whole point of it is to be able to chat directly with someone without them intruding into your personal life more than you want them too. Some people just wanna be able to have a good chat, and not go trough the pesky procedure of messaging back and forth, having to go trough loading pages and opening inboxes, etc. I think a simple chat feature with only the people on your friends list would do some good. But if it hasn't been accepted in the past then oh well. I think it would be nice though.

People make threads to chat. More so in the RP section(Konoha Town). If less people make threads then there is less activity and less discussion. Less discussion means people get bored and stop caring and in time the site dies off.

Role playing has nothing to do with chat. If you want to role play you'll role play. And chatting is between 2 people. It's not like 1 chat is going to link the thousands of RPers...and so what if it's been declined before? Maybe the more people that request will show a higher demand and it'll come to be.

No. The VM/PM system is fine. Why add some stupid icing or candy (Doesn't matter) to a already awesome cake?

How does it defeat the purpose? You'd still have to use threads to communicate with all of NB and you'd still be using threads to meet people. It's not much different at all than using the PM. It's jsut quicker/ Has PMing and VMing stopped people from using the threads?....

You do understand what a Forum is correct?

Forum = Discussion/Debating
Chat = Discussion/Debating

If you want to have a personal IM, you have MSN and VM's although VM isn't instant.

If you have a group of people that would like to have conversations off of the forum you should use one the many irc networks available to you. But, putting a real time chat on a threaded forum is called 'forum suicide'.
