Itachi taking sasuke's eyes

so i was looking through the sasuke vs itachi battle again, and I remember a couple of questions that had been bothering me for a while. I know Itachi was faking wanting to steal Sasuke's eyes, but the procedure for wanting to steal them seems to be truthful, seeing as sasuke now has gained ems.

anyway, i've got a couple of issues with this whole exchanging eyes thing.

1. weren't sasuke's eyes 3-tomoed when he fought itachi? so what would have been the point of taking them if sasuke hadn't yet activated his mangekyo sharingan. would itachi have gained the eternal mangekyou sharingan nevertheless.

2. itachi said that this procedure can only be performed between clansmen, so maybe it's a possible motive for tobi to help sasuke awaken ems? he did say that eyes capable of awakening susanoo are rare to someone, idk if it was danzo, zetsu or the kage, too lazy to look for it.

anyway, my issue is with these two pages.

the transplant also gave birth to a completely new dojutsu... of course this 'exchange' could only be done between clansmen. and simply gaining another's eyes didn't equate to gaining this power.

i took this to mean that the fourth technique has to be awakened? but i guess it can be interpreted in a variety of ways, i'd like to hear others opinions

here itachi says that to obtain ms you need to kill your friend, and to gain ems you need to take the siblings eyes, which implies that you cannot take just another 'clansmen's eyes to gain ems. which could again shed some light on tobi's intentions.

summing up
1. if itachi had taken sasuke's eyes, would he have gotten ems?
2. can an uchiha take another's ms to activate ems? or is it strictly between brothers.
sorry if my thoughts seem a bit scattered, I have a lot on my mind about this topic but i don't think i've structured the post very well

Itachi would have gained EMS if he had Sasuke's eyes. It doesn't matter how many tomoes. So far as he had MS, he would have gained EMS. You need a sibling's eye to get it.

Naruto wiki says this,The tighter the blood ties are between the "donor" and the receiver, the better it is for compatibility, siblings for example. Now I dont know if this is true but it seems likely. And a lot of Uchiha have tried awaking MS and failed, said by Itachi so only certain people could awaken it. But it never exactly said you needed another MS. But most likely you do since in Madara's EMS he has Izuna's design and in Sasuke's EMS he has Itachi's design.

yeah that does make sense, good find.

about the not needing ms bit, it's the design that gets me confused, maybe the new holder of the eyes would just regain his original ms design if he takes a 3-tomoed sharingan. but personally, i don't think it will result in ems, or even ms. seeing as itachi was pushing sasuke to activate his ms, i'm not sure it would even work the other way around (a 3-tomoe uchiha taking an ms to gain ems).

now that i think of it, danzo and shisui's eye is also an interesting case. he managed to implant a ms and with no signs of blindness too

2. I also have a feeling that tobi wants sasuke's eyes. I dont think he would just give him the ems for the sake of it. He did talk about susano being rare. But also tobi himself doesnt have tsukuyomi and his plan includes casting a tsukuyomi on the moon, so maybe he does plan on taking sasuke's eyes

Yeah although tobi must have a pretty great genjutsu seeing as he controlled yagura and put one on konan to extract information, both of whom are no pushovers, i don't think he has tsukuyomi. On the other hand, he was a bit too willing to throw sasuke in the frying pan in the kage summit, having zetsu inform the 5 kage where he was and all. I don't get him, even though he did help sasuke in the end, sasuke could have died a few times before that. It's an awful risk to take if your plan revolves around those eyes.

Itachi stealing Sasuke's three tomoe was mainly to continue his deception of Sasuke. The fact that he told him to "fight him again once he had the same eyes" means you likely need two pairs of MS to obtain EMS. To me, that means that he could not get EMS from taking Sasuke's eyes, but decided to keep going forward with the act so that Sasuke did not discover his true intention.

As to the rarity of EMS, I think its confirmed that it must be a sibling to obtain EMS from them. Itachi explained that "many sacrifices were made to obtain this information". That means that clansmen with MS killed other MS clansman and did not obtain it. This is pretty good proof that it must be between siblings.
