Actually from what we have seen, its clear what itachi said about activating the ms is false. He has told sasuke many lies to make himself look bad.
From what we know of shisui i doubt he killed his best friend. Infact isnt his best friend itachi?.
From what we know shsui killed himself and that is what gave itachi his ms.
Itachi died due to 0 chakra and his illness. Sasuke gained the ms.
From what we have seen its clear somebody close to you have to die, not necessarily you must kill your best friend.
Btw you cannot accuse itachi of disloyalty. Its his love and loyalty for his village that made him do what he did.
Village loyalty > clan loyalty
I'm dissapointed now, you didn't understand what I was getting at. I'm talking about clan disloyalty and I'm quite aware that you don't have to kill your best friend to gain MS, you're actually not supposed to it's a cheap way to get it. You feel the loose of your friend and you get it that way, which is the way it's said to be activated. The cheaters went ahead and killed them so they could activate it.
And also, Itachi was at an impass and he was working as a double agent for both sides but chose to finally work for the village.
And I'm surprised you didn't bring up the fact that Itachi left Sasuke alive so Sasuke could kill him and restore honor to his clan, which shows loyalty to his clan all in itself as well. Itachi is probably the only person you could argue about that.
