Why would Rin or Kurenai call Kakashi "Kakashi-senpai"?

we know shes most likely dead but we dont know how. i created this thread not to long ago...but then i reread most all of the manga and couldnt find anything giving us a clue to what happened. all i know is theres a 99% chance shes dead or Kakashi thinks shes dead.
