Battle Of Intellect Shikamaru Vs Itachi

As we know both itachi and shikamaru have both shown they can analyze any situation thourughly and with precision. IMO itachi in a 1 on 1 battle with shikamaru would win due to his kekkengai and other abillites eg: taijutsu,sword of totsuka and yama mirror.OVERKILL

But in a battle of intellect they both have shown that that are in the top 5.

Here are some examples of when shikamaru demonstrated this feature.

*During his first fight with kakuzu and hidan the first battle. while maintaining his shadow strangle jutsu (which requires alot of concentration), he was abe to come up with a plan to trap and decapitaite hidan.But was unable to win the fight due to the lack of tools at his disposel.

*Also during his second fight with kakuzu and hidan, he came up with a strategy before hand which predicted what would happen before the fight even started and outsmarted hidan.He also found out how to counter hidans immortality and expose his weakness (when hidan killed asuma).


*It was also stated in the manga he had the highest IQ at such a young age,he was also the only gennin who became a chunnin in the exams even though he lost.Which stated by iruka sesnei ( I think?) can only happen if the higher ups saw they were capable and showed true skills of a chunin. He made temari his bitch

Now for itachi
*Itachi praised as a genius at the age of seven. He was even appointed leader of ANBU at age 13. He wouldn't have accomplished any of these if he didn't have a high intellect.

*In combat itachi has outsmarted all/most of his opponents before they even knew they even had a chance to realize it, they had already lost eg (deidara, oro) who are considered kage level. Even kurenai doubt its really worth mentioning lol

*he was able to analyze nagato's chibak tensei and find its weakness quickly

*He also found out a way to stop sasuke before hand ( by giving shisui's to naruto etc.. cbf to explain). But it wasn't a succes because naruto ran into him before sasuke. But other than that he was able to break out of edo tensei's control, even kabuto praised him for it. Plus none of the edo tensei's have broken out of kabuto's control yet.

IMO i go for shikamaru, but i like both characters in genral.Let me hear your thoughts and your opinions.PEACE

Its a battle of who has the better inttelect, not who is the strongest as i said in a 1 on 1 battle itachi wins because of what you stated sharingan etc... i am asking who is better at analyzing the situation and coming up with the better stratergy. Itachi has more tools at his disposal from what we have seen, which gives him more options to form a counter stratergy. But i want to find out your guy's opinions on who make better coices with what tools they have at their disposal

Ok so my opinion is they have 2 different kinda of intellect. They're both geniuses but Shikamaru due to his lack of serious Justus and chakra reserves serves more as a leader strategist while Itachi is life smarter. What I mean by that is that he doesn't predicts how to fight a war but he predictes how stuff will turn out with his influence. If Konoha will be safer or if he will affect some matters and in what way. He makes sure that everything around him works well and is a perfect manager of his sorroundings. he can predict other peoples movements and do something about them but he would do it all for some big matters or overall course of certain matter often using opponents as opposed to Shikamaru who knows how to use forces under his command. Shikamaru is more like a strategist type that would put forces under his command in right places for certain small battles. And of course we haven't really seen if shikamarus fighting strategies are better than Itachi's cuz he was losing more often.

Edit: Itachi is a life long genius who has to think and plan every day often very important stuff. Shikamaru is smart when they require him to be like that so just for certain battles or one war. Overall Itachi's bit more useful and more mighty. Shikamaru is smart and can think well.

yea i know shika hasn't been known to win most of his battles, but who do you think is the the better strategist and can analyze things more thouroughly. Regardless of their win to loss ratio. And i appreciate your opinion

I get your point. But in shika's defense if he also had a kekkgenkai and the phsical attributes which itachi had he would surpass itachi IMO but nevertheless itachi wins in a 1 on 1 battle because of that.

Shikamaru- lazy thinker of big importance in small matters, good for commanding his forces

You fail to realize that having Sharingan is nothing special. He evolved it and changed the course of the world at least couple times. Everyone knows his name. Madara and Tobi and Nagato are probably smarter than Shikamaru too. Why? Because they use their intelligence to plan such great things out of nothing. Out of just ideas. They are once again on world level, not village level.

Even without out the sharingan or kekegenki he gained the respect of alot of people, even when he didn't belong to a superior bloodline. He was praised by people for his intellect( Tsunade,His father (forgot his name lol,higher upps,asuma even naruto) not his strength. yeah hes really lazy and cbf most of the time , but when things get heated his mind comes up with several stratergys , and even within those stratergies he chooses which one is the best suited and most efficent for the current situation.

his actions say otherwise. he constantly underestimated people, did nothing about major threats when he should have, sat on his ass for 10 years instead of plotting and setting up traps for his enemies, didnt find a way to warn the good guys about akatsuki, tortured sasuke to madness thinking it would make him a hero which is beyond stupid etc.

you mean overpowered. deidara and oro were overpowrred by a brute genjutsu force. not any kind of clever plan or tactic.
sasuke is the one who uses genjutsu tactically and strategically. itachi spams it right off the bat for a quick auto win. which results in him lacking the experience to dig down in long fights.

naruto was analysing jutsus by chapter 3 when he tried to trick kakashi. this is nothing new. and figuring something out is not the same as what itachi did. all itachi did was say how to attack it. not analyse every single aspect of it. its not a complex jutsu anyway. its just making a mini moon.
