Minato base speed was so fast that he was given the nickname "Yellow Flash", had 1-2 elements,sealing jutsus,summoning jutsu,rasengan,barrier jutsu, Extremely smart. If Minato didn't have FTG then he could spend the time he did creating FTG on learning to go Sage Mode, element base jutsus, combine his element with rasengan, learning all of Konoha's jutsu (non bloodline jutsu) like the 3rd Hokage did. Minato wasn't in his prime when he died and if he lived he would be the strongest ninja we've seen without a doubt. Minato would of had 13 years to train as Naruto grew up so Then 3 more after Naruto trained with Jiraiya.

He would be stronger than Kakashi with Sharingan, Minato has powerful sealing jutsus, base speed great enough to earn the nickname "yellow flash", has srtonger summons, can tell the strenghts and weakness of a jutsu from seeing it once, never made a wasted move and if lived longer would have Sage Mode also. Minato is smarter an faster than Kakashi bro. Kakashi has gotten stronger throughout the manga but is was said Naruto surpassed Kakashi first then Jiraiya then his father.

Yeah Minato did what he did because it wa the best choice at the time, but fi he couldn't teleport him away then he would use death Repear Seal to weaken the fox but the 3rd Hokage being older would use it instead. Then with Gamabuta Minato and other Konoha ninjas would have drove the fox way or seal it. So without FTG Minato had a high possibility to live and raise Naruto as a single parent, Kushina would still die.
