Throwback to Part 1

I just started watching Naruto form the beginning again a few weeks ago after being out of the loop for a couple years. I'm halfway through Shippuden but I still can't let the Chunin exams form part 1 go! Can someone tell me why the ANBU didn't even try to attack the Sound Ninja 4 when they put up that barrier keeping the Third Hokage and Throw up snake sword guy inside? I mean they weren't protecting themselves (sound 4) when they first put up the barrier so why were the ANBU just chilling like they had the day off?

they put up a double barrier but they didnt do it right away so yeah the AMBU are dumb/ or they dont think they can take on the sound 4 which I think they could.....probably

Haha thanks for the welcome. But yeah ANBU needs to step it up. I know that the writers sometimes do things that make no sense just to create tension....but come on.... I also have a huge problem with every character explaining every part of their techniques and strategies to their enemies but I guess we have to make sure everyone understands what's happening. I love Naruto none the less lol

Thats true I mean why didnt they attack the people creating the barrier. Those ninja were outside of the barrier completely exposed for a good while before they put barriers around themselves as well
