how does one go from genin to chunin?(read)

first things first this is not in the wrong section.

i am not refering to how one does this in the show, i am fully aware of the chunnin exams.

i want to know how a member of nb goes from genin to chunnin, some people are even jounin. i'm talking about the symbol underneath the one that you choose when you create an account, for example mine says jinchurikki with genin underneath it. so how do i become a chunnin?
