Except that madara's LV2 susanoo can easily plow through gaara's strongest defenses, and has spammable amaterasu arrows that will most likely plow through gaara's strongest defenses (since madara's susanoo's spammable longrange did). And sasuke also has a hawk summon so he can fly as well. And this is considering that gaara is fighting in a desert, anywhere else and the battle will be over long before gaara has time to crate a miniture desert of his own.

and yeah MS tech are so powerful that they alone make a shinobi. During Sasuke and itachi's fight, sasuke had the advantage when going head to head with base itachi. By just having the MS, itachi was able to control the fight and could have won if he wanted to despite being sick and getting owned in base.

I am certainly not saying that Gaara's victory is likely. What I am saying is that there are many possible outcomes in all these situations and the one I described simply shows how it 'could' happen.
Don't forget that the techniques given by the MS have many side effects. They take considerable chakra to use and they cause the user to lose focus.
If Gaara could, and we have seen him do so, take the attacks the MS has and avoid taking damage,even for a while. Then he would take the upper hand very quickly.
True that Sasuke has a summon but they can be defeated quite easily.
Gaara does not require sand other than his own to fly. Area makes no difference. All land is made with stone, which Gaara can turn to sand.
Please do not use the Itachi vs Sasuke fight as an example of anything. It wasn't really a fight.
Try and understand that I am not saying Gaara>>>Sasuke. What I am saying is that in every situation, there is the oppertunity to win or turn the tide.
I was not discussing Madara, so not sure where that came from. Susanoo seems to be fast but Gaara is not a pushover, who knows if Susanoo would keep up?

Sasuke has EMS. There are no side affects except chakra drain, and from what we've seen the drain is minimal since sasuke pulls out a full susanoo and shoots amaterasu arrows for fun.

He took one MS attack, amaterasu, which has nothing to do with the strength of a defense. His ultimate defense gets pierced by madara's lvl2 susanoo's spammable long range tech. His ultimate defense isn't standing up to sasuke's amaterasu arrows. MS drains the heck out of the person's chakra, but EMS, the eye that sasuke has right now, does not.

Area makes a crapload of difference since it takes gaara time to turn stone into sand, and against an EMS user who can spam attacks that gaara can't block even in a desert, gaara will be finished long before he can make enough sand to fill a sand-box.

With EMS sasuke can stay comfortably in his complete susanoo, has more powerful attacks than Madara's incomplete susanoo which destroys gaara's defense, and his long range attacks are so fast that guys as fast as kakashi can't even dodge them, rather they have to warp it away with kamui. There is no way that gaara can beat current Sasuke no matter where the battle took place.

Naruto,as a series, sadly is not that simple.

Gaara can win, it is unlikely, but he can.
Anyway, my point was not to have a debate about Sasuke>>>Gaara. This was not my intention, how you've managed to turn this into that debate is beyond me.
What I am saying, and it cannot be argued so don't bother, is that if one thing is certain, it's that there are no certainties. Get it?
You can't say for sure that if they fought 10 times that Sasuke would win 10/10. you can't. Sorry but it's true. it isn't about who's fighting who. It's about chance and chance alone. Luck as Might guy says, is another shinobi skill.
BTW Madara did not fire a LVL2 arrow at Gaara. It was a diff move entirely.

Can you understand my point? This isn't about one person being better than another. So don't try and make it about that.
